sooo hot!
took this photo of a few of my dug irises drying for processing and shipping. I have lots more dug in another location.
Shortly after this, i passed out from the heat -- (97+ degrees at the time) after this pict was taken and came to flat on my back, and had to spend the rest of the day indoors. Thumbs down Crying

Be careful out there Tim. You escaped this time, but....
Did your iris not get sunburned out in that sun and heat? I was digging for our iris sale when it was mid nineties and high humidity. Those fans that spent a mere 10 minutes in the sun had the leaves turn soft and floppy and started turning brown. Had to cut them lower than planned.

Be careful Timothy. Heat is not to be missed with. One job I was at, we would send a couple residents a year to the emergency room for heat stroke.

Sorry you had heat illness, Tim. It does sneak up on us. Best to work early and stop before you absolutely have to. I hope you did not lie in the sun for very long. Keep hydrated. Often heat prostration, and other heat related reactions, are worse the next day. Take care.

I had a few sunburn, but I put a tarp over most of them so only a few got scorched

people are already clamoring for their plants -- ebay buyers are the worst (not all, but a significant number) --- demanding, rude, impatient...........
So I gotta soldier on. I'm about 60% towards completion of my digging

Please be careful Timothy - and everyone else prepping plants to ship. You could have really whacked your head badly or otherwise injured yourself, and then lay there in the sun baking dangerously. Crying

The patio thermometer here was "only" reading around 90 F when I went out late afternoon to work on the irises for my sister. Still too warm for me, even working mostly in the shade - lots of sweat before those irises were decanted (from pots), trimmed, washed, rinsed, and laid to dry on the patio.
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Please be careful! You could have hit your head and done serious damage to yourself. Drink lots of cold water and stay hydrated.

Well *THEY* are just going to have to wait their turn. (Maybe don't sell on eBay next year?) Just work 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM!!!!

I am unable to work outside after 9:00 AM most days! And it isn't as hot here as it is where you are!

Timothy, you are far more important than the plants. The orders can wait and the plants can be replaced....you can not be replaced. So please be more careful out in the heat, it can really do a number on you. Take some time to feel "good" again, because your body has been weakened. If you go back out there to soon, the results may be worse...much worse. If the ebayers are giving you a bad time, give me their email I'll tell them a thing or two.

I don't know you, but you sound a stubborn as I am, so I am going to offer a couple of suggestions that might help you. I'll be throwing a few links in here, but I am not recommending any particular product.

If you are going to soldier on, go ahead, but do it smarter ... Smiling

1. Create shade. You can use those portable canopy things.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0145R49C8/

2. Set up a misting system.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

*** I like the look of this because it does both

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

3. Wear a cooling vest

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

4. Wear clothing designed for working hot weather

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0KSXO/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BP570Z2/

There are a lot of products you can use to make it possible for you to work in the heat without risking your life. You can do a Google search for products to help you work in the heat.
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

Same goes here. In fact I can wait until early October if you want.

Be careful, and I agree with everyone's comments above. The plants can be replace but you can't!

They sure look like nice plants though. I find hot humid weather the worst thing for me to work in, hope your weather cools down a bit.
