It's the very least they could do, and I'm speaking literally. Smiling

They are owned by Wayside Gardens now, so are in the fold of that terrible company, I suppose.

Yes, and Wayside's another one that used to be good. They're all being taken over by people who run them into the ground, maybe in search of a big loss to write off their taxes. Weeks and Star Roses will be the next to decline.

Yes, I, too, remember when Wayside was the bomb! (see how old we are!! Hilarious! )

In the 1980's or thereabouts.

Well now, THAT explains a lot. Sad I'll withhold from making any further comment.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I wish I had bought more from Wayside in those days. I still have all of my Wayside roses, including some of the ones that used to go on sale for ludicrous prices at the end of the season. One year I forgot about a box of Wayside sale roses from Krazy Keith's, and it sat behind my living room couch for weeks. I still have those roses!

Wow! Healthy roses from the old Wayside (not to be confused with the current)!

I bought some of my first roses from them in the 80's, and they were big and beautiful to behold.

Their catalog goes directly in the circular file now.

I was thinking..... they are in SC and someday if we are down that way, I'd love to see the actual scene of the crimes....

That would be interesting. I think J&P originally refused to sell its name to Springhill/Michigan Bulb because that place wanted to move the whole operation, growing fields and all, to Indiana or wherever that place does its growing (and, incidentally, why is Michigan Bulb in Indiana instead of Michigan?). I guess J&P thought South Carolina was more suitable, or maybe it had no choice by that time. I know that the J&P roses were dug out of all the growing fields on the West Coast. J&P failed to pay the growers, the growers dug up all the plants and sold them for a song to wholesalers, and there were some incredible sales of J&P roses around here. Unfortunately, the roses had no labels and they weren't in bloom at the time of the sales, so there was no way to know what you'd be buying.

One of the neutral ratings (which started out negative) is mine, back in 2008. They started having problems and creating problems for the rest of us long ago.
