I just received a box from Wild Iris Rows. One of the bonuses was marked as Tully Herror. I can't find this one on the internet at all, including searches of the garden.org iris database, or even a search on Wild Iris Rows' site.

Does anyone have this one? Or any clue as to what it will look like? Is it a new seedling?

Here are the labled ones I did get, which I will be planting today after they soak an hour:

Vanity,
Lady Friend,
Queen's Circle,
Stairway to heaven appears to have been omitted, but there was one unlabled iris in the box, so heaven only knows what that will turn out to be.

They were very generous with bonuses, however:

World Premier (requested bonus),
Tully herror ( bonus ????),
Tennessee Gentleman, (bonus)
Coastal Mist (bonus), and
Lemon Chess (bonus.)

So I can't complain. I just hope that my little quarter acre does not get totally crammed up with NOIDs and bonuses before I get all the ones I really want. Judging from the huge response to the NOIDs thread on this web site, the iris nurseries have a big problem with sending substitutions that they label incorrectly. This will be my second attempt to get Vanity and Lady Friend after my "Not Lady Friend" and "Not Vanity" bloomed this spring. I sure hope I'm not disappointed again next spring!

I have a second box of 4 or 5 coming from Schreiners' scheduled to arrive this Monday, probably during a week of forecasted thunder showers.

Must make my labels, and get busy with planting.

Daisy ~ I wish I could be of help. The best thing would be to contact the vendor, in this case, Wild Iris Rows, and ask them directly if this was: intentional, a registered iris, and what other questions that you have for them. If they do not immediately respond to your emails, as many at this time of shipping do not, try calling them on the phone, with your order number and date...etc.

Please let us know how you do. You might mention to them, that you belong to several national iris garden clubs, and they wouldn't want to have their name "sullied". This of course, is last resort. It is always best to approach them with a positive attitude and then see what transpires. Crossing Fingers!

Underthesun,
Yes I finally discovered that right as you were probably responding. It looked like two words, with the last one ending in r. That threw me for a loop there for a bit. But it was actually one word, ending in n.

And I looked it up. It's a pretty blue reverse itone. I think I will probably like it.

Thanks for the help!

I have ordered from Wild Iris Rows many times. I have never had an incorrect iris and they are quite generous with their extras and bonuses. Darnell is a really nice fellow and will be sure to help you.

Jane H, I believe you are correct. I sent Wild Iris Rows an inquiry about this and heard back very promptly last evening, both with the name "Tullyherron" and with the fact that the unlabeled iris is probably the "missing" "Stairway to Heaven," since that is one they never seem to run out of. I truly suspect they just forgot to label it after digging it - a simple easy mistake to make.

They were impressively generous with their bonuses. I mean, simply, WOW! And I suspect I will be ordering from them again in the future.

Good companies get my repeat business. So far with Wild Iris Rows, I am impressed.

I like Greg Hester. He is great to work with. I haven't ordered from them in a few years but they have a few I need replacements of so I plan to order next year. His intros do well here in the south as well.

Greg is the son who handles most of the computer work as well as the gardening. Darnell is very active in our Region 7 Iris group. We had judges training at Wild Iris Rows this spring. Nice folks.

Another iris vendor closing shop. Sad I hope we are not left only with huge vendors. I think small vendors have a lot to offer too.

That's sad they are closing. Wonder why. I much rather deal with a family ran and owned place when i can instead of corporate places.

I am so sorry to hear that! I imagine that it could be hard making a living (or supplementing it) off of iris, with hard physical labor to boot. And very seasonal income, just when many people want to be free to travel. God knows, I'm glad some people are willing to do it, so we can all enjoy prettier gardens! I wish them well in their retirement.

It would be a hard job, esp with all the physical things required. Daisydo, i agree in that it would be a seasonal income. It would be devastating if something would happen to the irises right before they started to fill orders.
