I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database! Native Plants and Wildflowers Birds Plumerias Hummingbirder Dog Lover
This is another lovely that just pops up all over my yard. I know it's spider wort, but no clue which one. Left to it's own devices, I have no idea how tall it would get. I see it on the side of the roads and some clumps look to be a foot or more.




Each cloud has a silver lineing if only you look for it.

I think it is probably Tradescantia hirsutiflora. It is a native and grows wild in Bay County.

Tradescantia occidentalis also grows in your area but the pictures I have seen don't seem to show the buds being so hairy.

I am going to walk up to the corner tomorrow where there is an abandoned house and check out the spiderwort there. It is growing with wild abandon and I really love the color.
