Sempervivum Chicks (or babies) appear in unique and unusual configurations, one variety differing from another in pleasing ways.
Thought it would be nice to see them.
Spring seems to be the time they appear.

I'll start with Emily

Janice what a fun, amazing photo. It is interesting to see how Emily sends her offsets out. They even have to break through the hens webbing.

On my way out to see what I can find. The sun is shining, and it is in the mid 50's today. Just came in to get some water.

Lemon Babies is making babies. This one is so tiny and really struggled getting it started last fall. She made it.


She will turn a very lemony color soon. Looks like she is already starting the change.

We just had a huge hailstorm. The street had one and a half inch deep hail the size of quarters or mothballs. The semps are nearly covered.

Oh good heavens, that's a lot of hail. Sure hope there is no damage. I can't imagine that much hail.

I looked out recently and the hail has melted.
It was in the 70's today...so very strange to see rocks of ice!

Tomorrow I will check on the semps......

Some damage from the hail with a few broken leaf tips, but nothing major.

Today I do see lots more damage from the hailstorm to the semps.

Guess the marks took a couple of days to appear...mostly lots of bruising on the ones with larger leaves and broken leaf tips.

I have the same thing here Janice. From hail and sleet. Thank heavens they are tough plants and will roll with the hail.

I had a lot of hail damage last year, but now they've all outgrown it. Beautiful pictures Janice. Mine aren't sending out any new babies yet this year.

Sure is! They're such amazing plants, I never get tired of walking around and looking at them all!
