Sempervivum Chicks (or babies) appear in unique and unusual configurations, one variety differing from another in pleasing ways.
Thought it would be nice to see them.
Spring seems to be the time they appear.

I'll start with Emily

Janice what a fun, amazing photo. It is interesting to see how Emily sends her offsets out. They even have to break through the hens webbing. Lovey dubby

On my way out to see what I can find. The sun is shining, and it is in the mid 50's today. Just came in to get some water.
Be back later. Hurray!

Janice, look what I found. Hurray!
Lemon Babies is making babies. Hurray! This one is so tiny and really struggled getting it started last fall. She made it. Hurray!

She will turn a very lemony color soon. Looks like she is already starting the change.

We just had a huge hailstorm. The street had one and a half inch deep hail the size of quarters or mothballs. The semps are nearly covered. Angry

Oh good heavens, that's a lot of hail. Sure hope there is no damage. I can't imagine that much hail. Blinking

Thanks, Lynn!
I looked out recently and the hail has melted.
It was in the 70's today...so very strange to see rocks of ice!

Tomorrow I will check on the semps...... Confused

You are definitely ahead of me in the sempervivum growing season. We are really behind this year.

Your photos make me so happy. Just look at all those babies, I can almost hear the sound of baby semp voices.
They are really going to town. The enlarged photos are amazing Janet. Lovey dubby
Are you adding them to the database? They are so lovely to look at.

Today I do see lots more damage from the hailstorm to the semps.

Guess the marks took a couple of days to appear...mostly lots of bruising on the ones with larger leaves and broken leaf tips.
