Mike you are right - no point in letting them out of your sight until they are well rooted.

Mike I don't have any idea what any of mine are. The white/yellow one does not lose its leaves in the winter and keeps its blooms as well. The other ones were sticks I got from friends because I liked the color or the fragrance. Names? We don't need no stinkin' names down here!! Rolling on the floor laughing At least, that is the general idea most places. There are nurseries that do keep track of the latin names of their plants but plumeria are so common and root so easily that I doubt they sell them as no one would buy them when they get them free.

The ties you see on mine are because they are on the roof and in mid size plastic pots. I tie them to keep them from blowing over when we get a lot of wind. Of course, if there were a hurricane coming I would either bring them into the terrace or lay them down on the roof and hope. Mainly I just hope there won't be a hurricane Thumbs up They rarely hit here in Merida, and when they do it is mostly the heavy rains that cause damage. Our beach place though, it gets hit much more often and by big ones off the Caribbean. It's been a few years since we had a direct hit by a big storm over there so I'm really hoping this year isn't our turn.

Jonna, your white that keeps its leaves is most likely a local species.

I think so too Hetty, it is very common here and used a lot for landscaping because it does keep its leaves and flowers. I checked the smell on this new inflo of blooms and it does have a nice scent. The old inflo from last fall has lost all of its scent but is still on the plant with about 8 - 10 blooms.

I've forgotten what color the last one to bloom is, I'm kind of excited to see what I get. It was just a stick last year but has grown several feet and branched already. I can't remember where I got it. It makes me happy when I drive down the street because I can now see some of the plumerias up on the roof from the street.

Mike, I can see the cathedral from the roof looking in one direction, one of the colonial gates to the city looking another and - for a taste of modern - a huge gold statue to the angel moroni on the mormon temple about a block away. I'm surrounded by churches. I can hear the bells from about half a dozen churches ringing for mass every day, they all have a slightly different tone and they ring one after the other. It's also cool and breezy up there and at this time of the year, when it is hot and humid, it is really nice to sit out there at night. I really love living here.

It sounds like a small piece of Paradise!!!

To tell you the truth i like to know what the names of the plumeria are really for 3 reasons only 1 if anyone asks .2 if anyone wants to buy or so i don't buy to many of the same kind. Other then that i love them all and well names who really cares if you are a home owner that is a plumeria lover!!!!

love them all and i have lost several of my labels and i kinda like that. just a new sap-rise around every corner. ( my dad has Alzheimer REAL bad but a while ago when he drifted back and forth he used to joke that its kind fun to meet so many new people all the time and seeing something new everyday when he walked out the door of his house and seeing his yard of 35 years!)

Hetty
Im right there between selling as a cutting and selling as a plant all i can do is wait and let them things grow more. not that bad i get to see all the info's that everyone is missing!!! about 75% of my cuttings have inflows im totally amazed. The individual i was telling you about that wants 2+tip plants rooted dont think she understands like Carol (FCN for everyone who dosn't know this incredible person and company) was saying they have a better chance in getting single tip for flowers 2-3 tip might have to wait longer!!!!

Mike is right, but the multiple tip ones have a chance for MORE blooms down the road so it's a bit of a toss up.

Pinks are common and therefore hard to identify from a picture. Also local conditions can really affect a plumeria's appearance. I would not dare to venture a guess. But it's lovely!
