Many of the seedlings should bloom this year. One did last fall and when I cleaned them up I found 2 more bloom stalks that would have bloomed last fall if it hadn't turned cold. I will really be disappointed if they don't bloom.

Thank sounds great. Gives you lots to look forward too seeing your new babies bloom for the first time. Do you cull after that first bloom in case there are ones that aren't too pretty?

They are so crowded that I'm going to have to be ruthless in culling. Wishing doesn't accomplish anything but I sure wish I had some nice fertile empty beds with out any weed seeds.

Thanks all for the kind comments the beds were a lot of work to build but I really enjoy working on it all, it gives me a peace of mind I love playing in the dirt Smiling and yes I do get a lot of help from the kids.

Paul that has got to be exciting waiting to see what is going to bloom for the first time I think Im going to try my hand at crossing a few this year and see if I cant get lucky that would be alot of fun just to see what opens.

Paul, please tell me what that gorgeous plant is on your icon.

Rita, thanks for posting your pictures, I always look at the posts, but don't always reply.

Aruba, I love your iris beds, they look so well maintained.

Dot...my current icon is a petunia called 'Queen Bee' which I saw at a local nursery. We are lucky to have several great nurseries here and on days that I can't work in the yard I sometimes visit one of them and take pictures of plants I like. Then if the pictures turn out I enjoy sharing them here on ATP and adding them to the data base. Your beds are just incredible. I look forward to seeing them in bloom. Your pictures are wonderful also and I'm enjoying seeing some medians that I'm not familiar with.

Most of them are much smaller though and look like this just really coming up thru the winter mulch now.

China Spring is a very early bloomer, so it would be first. Mine are just breaking ground. Are those all new ones, Rita?

No, these are ones I have had here for a few years now. They should do really well this year after having time to grow and spread some. I never did buy any Sibs last year nor for this spring either.

Well, now that I look again, maybe it's just two leaves that came together to look like an elongated bud. Upper right corner (its right shoulder, if you will). But now that I look again, I think I see where it splits into the two separate leaves. Darn...

Tower Square Iris bed this sunny Easter Sunday. I put daffs and tulips in between the TB iris to give me an early season of bloom.
