I did manage to pull a handful or two of weeds just now.
I felt a little guilty just sitting there right in the middle of them!

With the warm weather this winter, chickweed has taken over the world here. Good thing it's easy to pull when the ground is wet. Except for the fact that I broke off one of the peony shoots that I couldn't see for all the chickweed around it, we're coexisting fairly well.

The roses have gone crazy and I didn't even fertilize them!

Same here.
But I've been nibbling on the chickweed.
And sprinkling it on my salad.

I figure if it's so healthy, so will I be.

True ... I eat it, pull it, enjoy it in bloom, don't consider it much of a "weed" (if it would just stay out of my beds) ... but wish I had a few chickens to help me. They could have some gourmet henbit as well. They won't let us keep chicks inside the city limits here. Angry Now what is the harm of two or three little hens?

And ajuga.
I have a sudden onslaught of purple in the back yard. Right in your face purple.

Hens. I was thinking more in terms of a few goats.

City limits here too, though.

But now they can have chickens within the city limits in Nashville. What kind of justice is that? I mean, come on.

Ajuga ... pretty. Whistling

Yes, I found that very interesting. They just passed the ordinance late last year. They can have up to six chickens as long as none are roosters! I only want two or so. Shrug!

I've never ever been extraordinarily fond of chickens.

It could be the memories of those headless ones running around with blood spurting everywhere while my grandmother cleaned off the little hatchet in the weeds.

It could be all the memories of the pecks at my fingers and arms when I reached beneath them to gather eggs.

It could be the memories of those who perched in the rafters flopping down to land in my hair. Nothing worse than to find a chicken perched on top of your head, wings flapping and toenails gripping in long curly white hair.

It could be.
I think I'll stay with goats.

Goats will eat anything and everything in sight whether you want them to or not ... plants, clothing, everything. I like goats, but have no safe place for them so I think I'll stick with chickens ... I can control them more easily. Different strokes for different folks though. Thumbs up

Now Tee, you know me better than that. I can't even handle a little dog, leash laws, ya know, so it's for sure I'll only be dreaming of goats or anything else that has four furry feet. (Unless it can be kept inside full time.)

Hey Vic! Bet your mountains are sure pretty.

I've been transplanting hostas. Urk.

Yah, those pesky laws. I like goats, fresh milk and cheese. I really like kitty cats. Especially for inside. Don't want any chickens inside either. Blinking

I've been pulling chickweed, henbit, chickweed, henbit, wild mustard, more chickweed, that little running thing that I call wild strawberry, maple seedlings, bamboo, chickweed, dead flower stalks and chickweed.

What kinds of hostas do you have?

Same here. And something else I'm not sure of. Weird thing.

Hostas. Who knows? Just old hostas that I've had before naming became popular. Some striped white, some solid and one huge goldish one.

I do have a new one from last year called Simply Sharon from my friend Pollyk. It's just peeking up from it's pot where it spent the winter. It goes in the ground next.

Old hostas are some of the best. The variegated foliage plants are so nice. That's cool collecting plants with your name. Hmmm.

Two boys just came to the door wanting to mow:
1. I'm glad to see at least a few kids still doing that.
2. Obviously it really is looking a bit shaggy. Oh well. Hilarious! Whistling Shrug!

Sigh. Wishing I had a garden to be pulling weeds in or feeling guilty about sitting & enjoying instead of pulling weeds. I miss my garden. I need dirt under my fingernails & gunk between my toes & white stripes where the straps of my flip flops lie. Sigh.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
