Heirlooms, Hybrids and GMOs

What makes a plant an heirloom? What constitutes a hybrid? And what on earth is a GMO? Heirlooms, hybrids and GMOs have added a good deal of confusion for gardeners and farmers new and old. Here is a short tutorial on their definitions and differences.

Actually, most of the plants we know are hybrids. Humans have been fussing around with the greenery since we figured out that we could.

Enjoyed it. I too did not know that corn AKA Maize was a hybrid. I remember being confused when I first read historical documents from before the 1400's that talked about corn. I later found out that corn was a generic term used for all cereal crops and what they were talking about had nothing to do with the crop that originated in the Americas.
