Dealing with Poison Ivy

If there's poison ivy anywhere in your yard, wear gloves and CHANGE THEM every time you weed or dig out there. Dirty gloves go straight into the washer!

I had a big dose of PI 2 years ago and my doctor mythbusted that it does NOT spread on your skin from breaking the bumps open, it usually spreads on your clothes. Grumbling So HOT washer with extra soap!

Yes, indeed! Our new washer has a "steam cycle" setting that we usually use, even for "normal" washing, and that seems to be working well... still gloves that I *know* have come into contact with PI only get washed with items like my gardening jeans that also got their share of contact, and then I use the "allergen" cycle (extra hot).
