Hurray! great to see the Crown of Thorns are doing well.

But I wouldn't wait that long for a plumie to root.....personally.

I'd like to comment on grafted plumeria.

So many people don't like them, think they are "an eye sore", but I have 3 that I received from Florida Colors. One of them you can see the graft clearly but I don't think it is unattractive. The other two you really have to look good to see the graft so they aren't really that noticeable. I'm very happy to be the owner of grafted plumerias. Smiling

I agree and you'll immediately have a plant that is growing strongly due to a fully developed root system. In addition, once the plant grows it is hard to even notice it is grafted. But for those who don't like the look, there is the option to bury the graft site.

The pics of Hurricane I posted earlier in the month are of a FCN graft plant purchased in May and bloomed in August!
I have several grafted plumeria from FCN, and the grafts do not bother me a bit.

I like the look of the graft as I think it is very cool. It adds character to an otherwise smooth trunk. I also know that it can be difficult to attain so I appreciate it.

shady - "adds character". I like the way you put that, and it is so true!

Now, I did see someone's graft that was a big hulkin' knot looking thing but even that was kind of cute in a weird sort of way. I'm all ears!

Again - character... straight plants are like perfect apples. We want plants (and produce) with character!

So my third attempt is still in a stasis mode, and today is the last day of our soaring upper 90's to 100F...hmmm I think I will have to give these cuttings an early fall season rest and store them indoors this weekend till next spring. Rolling my eyes.

One of the cuttings, is showing visible rotting on the mid-upper stem area..so I decided to uproot it, anyways, it never opened up its leaves...so just to check what went on around the root zone. As expected, nothing at all..one tiny but dried up root is all I can see..ah failure again grrrr! So just going to let this cutting dry up, maybe chop it into segments and store it......ah, sad, sad, sad...BUT I still have one more left, the cutting from my Aunt, that one is faring up well I hope, still attempting to open its leaves..but will have to grow it indoors soon, fall night time is getting much cooler now.

It's exhausting and frustrating, isn't it, tarev? I am carefully watching my reds. They haven't made much movement for a few weeks. I hope that isn't what's happening over here! Our temps dropped for a few days but getting warmer back into the high 80's again. Maybe that will help? I know the season is late. Might just cross my fingers they go dormant and come back with a bang in the spring.

Indeed Cheryl! Just soooo frustrating...but just got to keep on hoping one of the cuttings come out a winner at least!!! My last cutting, the one from my aunt, don't know what type it is..it sure looks like it has reddish leaves..it is taking forever as well to open the leaves, but much better number of leaves compared to the other cuttings..
I do not want to wave the white flag yet..... Rolling my eyes.

Here's some photos taken today...

Ah promising indeed...a very long promise. It has been trying to develop those leaves since May this year Rolling on the floor laughing

Nice meeting a former central valley resident! Big Grin Big Grin

I do wonder if this cutting can stand being inside my growcamp this winter,if I do not water it and keep it very dry.........I just dread the tule fog and cold...not good combo.. Blinking

Ah, the weather changed and turned much cooler, very overcast, and attempting to do some rain...so I took my last remaining plumie indoors today...but we have a forecast of mid 80- 90F by this weekend to next week...so one more chance of good soaking heat later for my dear plumie before it stays indoors the rest of this fall season.

Such warm sunshiny days coming about! So spring-like already! So today, my last remaining Plumeria is going outdoors. So we'll see if this year will be better for it. Rolling my eyes.

Just comparing old photos of my plumeria cutting to its appearance right now..

Before it only has one defined tip..now it has three defined tips...interesting to see that, even though it did not fully unfurl the leaves before.
