Okay thanks Smiling I took a below the soil peek, just to see if there was any signs it ever managed to make some roots before..all I saw was a very fine root hair less than an inch...really have to give this one a big time ignore mode. Rolling my eyes.

Just remember ...the heat will set in before you know it, and you'll be wishing for weather like what we have now...:)
Oh, and "Hi, neighbor!" So, how are the grow-bags working for you? Are they ok on roots, when you move them?

Hi Cyr! How's the weather on your side right now? It is just howling windy here..keeping fingers crossed the plants outside will not get sacked by the tree debris.
Indeed when the hot summer days come, we could all just wish for winter to be here Big Grin

The grow bags or fabric pots are working good actually, though I still have to see good development on my plumeria. But for all other plants that I have grown using it like orchids, they are working well. We'll see how it goes with the plumie on this set-up, if it will continue to try and grow some leaves.

Pretty much the same here, w. the weather. Lot's of wind, but no rain!...Still, am repotting all the houseplants, (the vanilla is next, that one took over an entire room, and still nary a pod!) so I'm getting my garden fix indoors, today:) Can't wait to go play in the dirt, again!

Would love to see your Vanilla!

My gardening fix right now is my amaryllis making a 2nd bloom stalk and bud watching some 'chids. Big Grin Maybe this weekend I can get to do some repotting of the schefflera.

Guess we're not so far apart. All the outside Hippaestrum are leafing out, no stalks yet, though. (And if I had a cell beyond my ATT Go-phone, and knew how to use one for pics, I'd show you this wandering vanilla..it's anchored itself in every pot in the bedroom! ) Thnk this year will be all about plumeria...can't wait on plumeria season!

I am still giving my plumie the neglectful care..leaving it alone by our south facing window upstairs....and with this topsy turvy weather it will stay safe there. I want to make this work..just so hard to pretend not to care for this one, when it is what it needs right now Rolling my eyes.

Post a pic, is the tip still shiny? Maybe it will still survive. I had some Singapore White that were so severely dehydrated (skin almost grayish black) but they are doing well now.

See my post below:

http://garden.org/ideas/view/G...

It warmed up here and I brought them outside and placed them on the bricks for bottom heat. Leaves are flourishing.

Well it was shiny, then drying up, then the body has some beginnings of rotting patch which I do not know if it stopped. The rest of the stem seems firm. Our weather went quite cool suddenly a few weeks back then now onto heat wave temps..so who knows..oh well, my next option if ever is to get a rooted one, either locally or thru Ken Big Grin Just not my luck to root cuttings of this lovely plant I guess. It is still in its container, so I am just going to let it stay there the whole summer and see how it goes.

Tarev, don't give up...when we had the cold snap, 3 of my cuttings became "wasp -waisted " and soft. They were my brand new "Oahu Star ", " Jean Moragne Jr.", and a 2-pronged, 3-tip Aztec Gold. I cut them all back to healthy tissue, dusted the cut ends with fungicide /rooting hormone, and let them callus, again. They are being re-rooted, now. The Oahu Star is now barely 6 inches long, but the tips claws are elongating, so I've hope for it. The 2-pronged Aztec Gold is now 2 separate cuttings, and I think they'll both live. The J.M.Jr doesn't look like it made it, but it can, and probably will be replaced, next year....after I'm 100% sure the weather will stay warm enough for rooting her. I think she succumbed because she originated in a warmer climate, maybe being rooted in temperate weather stressed her too much.
What did I learn from this experience? For starters, to accept the fact that there will be some losses. To not invest too much TLC into any single plant, these thrive on neglect, not on being fussed over. Plant seeds to divert your attention and worries about those cuttings, they'll take on average 30-50 days, or more to root. Watching the seedlings thrive and respond is very reassuring, in a way that watching cuttings root, is not,
because rooting cuttings is such a slow process ....and a lesson in infinite patience and determination.
:nodding:
P.S. My comment on neglecting /ignoring cuttings doesn't cover signs of rot, or black tip, those have to be taken care of....and the sooner, the better, because they spread.

Thanks Cyra, yeah I am ignoring it for now..another major heat wave coming in this weekend..hopefully it thrives on that Rolling my eyes. The stem feels firm, but will observe further. Will see if I should do some further chopping off..it just might be too short if I do that, and I have lost my first one that way as well before. Shrug!

If it (Gods forbid) doesn't thrive, please let me know, and I'll get you a Divine and give you a pack of seeds. Growing seedlings kept me from fussing over mine too much. You can either root it yourself, or I could root it for you, (or get it already rooted, but unrooted cuttings cost less) Only catch is in the next year or three, I'd like a piece of it...:)
Trust me, you'll be an old pro by then.... nodding
