Paul, the only negative about HAWAIIAN RAIN that I can think of is that there are probably not that many buds per stalk, and maybe it's a stingy bloomer compared to other irises, but the gorgeous flowers with fantastic substance and bright beards totally make up for that in my eyes. Also, I believe Randy Squires lists it at something like 35" tall, but when my two plants really took off the stalks turned out to be about the tallest I have -- taller than THAT'S ALL FOLKS, which is right next to it. So keep in mind that it will probably end up a tall one if it grows for you like it does for me. I think it is one breathtaking iris and I wouldn't give it up for anything!
And wouldn't you know they're predicting WIND for this afternoon, so I'm having to go out and stake all my taller stalks before I leave in a couple of hours. This always seems to happen to me every year now when I get some tall beauties about to open!
