Tink, what do you think of My Friend Wayne?
Thanks for posting your great photos. It's awesome to see garden pics of some I've only seen hybridizer's pics of before and there are some of those I don't trust.

Leslie, I don't like a whole lot of doubles, but I really like MFW. It's a nice large bloom that is open early and even on cooler mornings it's open all the way. The colors are nice and clear and all the blooms have been doubles ( so the 99% would be right). It's not my daylily (it's James Hall's) so I'm not sure of the plant habits, but I haven't known James to keep anything in his hybridizing area that doesn't have good habits.
When it reblooms I'll have a better idea because like I told Betty, a lot of our scapes are super short this year for some reason.

Could short scapes be the result of this interesting weather we've all been having for the past three or four months, I wonder?

Another cool morning, go figure!!! We had warmer mornings in January. By the time most are open all the way to get a good photo I've either demolished the bloom by opening it up myself to get the pollen or I've taken the stamens or anthers off so I don't want to take a photo of it. I only have one worth showing today and it looked beautiful at 7:00 am

Kim, I meant to tell you that Matthew Kaskel had 3 more poly buds. It's not normal for it to poly, but it has gotten a lot of rain and watering and I've read that will make a non-poly have a few poly blooms.

Karen Stephens is one that I really want but to make sure, does it have more burgandy red or does it have the brown red color? Most pictures I have seen show a small white edge??? Do you have Bourbon Street? I think the colors are about the same and if they are, I would like it a bunch. Thanks Mona

Here's a couple more photos of it Mona. I'm not sure what kind of red to describe it. I looked at the photo of Bourbon Street in the data base and they seem to be about the same to me. It has a small gold edge.

same as above but more shaded

I like the edged mid-rib we're seeing on recent intro's like PIRATE MOON. I got FOUR EYES from Luddy Lambertson this year. It's a tet poly with that trait.
