Thanks Polly and Neal for a great forum. I purchased many shrubs to plant this fall. I have silvery texas sage, butterfly bushes, Euonymus kiautschovious 'Manhattan', Gardenia jasmiroides 'Frost Proof', Itea virginica 'Henry Garnet', Weigela florida 'Rosea' and 'Variegated', Spiraea japonica 'Neon Flash', Loropetalum 'Plum', Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki' dappled willow, Double delight hydrangeas 'Pink Expression' and 'Perfection', Hydrangea 'Romance', Crape Myrtles, Azaleas, Tecoma Stan Yellow Bells, Lespedeza 'Spring Grove', Willow Corkscrew 'Dragon Claw', Abelia x grandiflorida, and Spiraea x bumalda 'Anthony Waterer'. Whew! I have a lot of work coming in the fall. Made myself tired just listing them. I'm glad my daughter has 10 acres. Rolling on the floor laughing If they survive me I will post pics as they grow. I'm sure I will have lots of questions. Smiling Group hug

Wow, Tammi you've got so many beauties on the way! Did you order them from a mail order source?

Bluestone started selling some shrubs for good prices a few years ago and I've been considering ordering a few through them. I believe they're in 4" pots, and I have better luck with woody plants when I start with small plants.

Neal, I got them through Samantha Flowers co-op on cubits. In fact, she is giving plants away to save them from the compost heap. You only have to pay shipping and a small fee for packaging. They are great plants (liners). Her liners are bigger and healthier than any I have ever received. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://cubits.org/flowersnurse...

If you are planting shrubs, bushes, or small trees as foundations plantings, they should be at least 3 feet from the building. There is an exception, of course. Spreading junipers should be planted about 4 feet from the building.
