I got the impression that laurel wasn't ready to commit to another website yet. I hope she changes her mind!

Venice, I agree with Kathy. It looks like a very sick dendrobium. If it lives, you are in for a long recovery. I only buy strong, heathy plants. I'm too old for projects. Smiling

I only buy bargain plants from Lowe's, usually under $1.00! And I have done very well, except for this one. Smiling

Venice, orchids are a different world, I'm afraid. Once they are unhappy, it's tough to bring them back. The Blanche DuBois syndrome.

Venice, you say you have done very well with your rescues. Have they bloomed for you? Pictures please?

Sorry to say, I am not an orchid person and this is the very first orchid I have had. Just got it on a whim because it was so cheap.

I got these plants the other day. Now they are repotted and look good. I have a little golden Kalanchoe that is on it's second bloom. The other ones were red and yellow with 3 plants in each pot.

Then I have a few other tropicals that are doing well.

My plants are nothing like you experts have. All of my plants cost the total of $10 and bought them in the past 6 months. The hibiscus bloomed twice and was beautiful.

I don't know if you can see the large bromeliad in the back ($.50!) It now has a little baby!

In the back are 8 elephant plants that came in one pot, my most expensive $2.50.

Considering I have a small apartment and and only light from the patio doors, I feel I have done well. This is my hibiscus when it bloomed. I wish I had a good close-up camera.

Hello fellow orchid fans, I'm brand new to cubits and returning to orchids after a long time. Finally getting to a place where I have room to grow them! I am getting back in by way of the mark down racks at Lowe's and have had happy results this year. Now I'm feeling more confident and starting to buy babies with capital letters after their names!

Sugarcane, your orchids are lovely. One could never tell that they were marked down plants. I am just curious, how long have you had them and how much were they? Maybe I should look for a baby. There are so many in the store right now.

Welcome lindsey!!! Glad you are back into orchids. I occasionally get orchids in the box stores for around $15-20 but they never mark them down here till they are really unhealthy or dying.
Nice group! I don't do well with phals so I love seeing others grow them.
Venice, that's a beautiful hibiscus! I have a yellow with a pink and red center that I love. Your plants look loved. Smiling

Thanks Boojum! I try the best that I can with my plants. As you can tell, I am a real newbie to all plants.

Everyone's orchids are so beautiful and elegant. Such variety!

I often wonder if it would be easier to focus on one genus but I am not wired that way!
I brought Cym Valentine's Love into the sunny room for a photo shoot today.
