Funny it was at a nursery that is on my way home. Last year they did a show and bought a group of Masdies and Epis to sell there. A year later, I knew they would part with this one easily and they did. When I was there this week all of these were in bloom and it looked pretty spectacular!

Lin, I hear you on the age thing. I just turned 76! I can't believe it. How did I get so old so fast? When DH and I work in the yard, it's one day of yard work, two days to recouperate! Take a look at our owls. They live in the woods behind the house. They sat and watched us one whole afternoon while we were planting some daylilies. Not as disconcerting as seeing the buzzards sitting in the trees eyeing us! We've been down here since Christmas and mostly stayed in the house, freezing!

My goodness, I go away for 5 days and the posts go crazy! Great orchids everyone! Those are stunning Phaius! and Kathy, all those mini catts are too cute. I hate to say both of my Prominea croaked Sad . They got fungal spotting and regardless to attempts, decided to leave for that compost pile in the sky.

Meanwhile, I did come home to a few blooms! Here is the first time bloom on Paphiopedilum primulinum var. purpurascens.

Paphiopedilum Lynleigh Koopowitz...first flower was deformed, second was broken before it opened and this one is OK...not a winner but not too bad.

Blooming still is Odontoglossum Margaret Holm. It has two spikes but I can't get both in focus at the same time so I photographed just one.

I wanna take that age test. Please post info and link if possible.

The barred owl pair are amazing. More amazing that you can photo them that close. We've got three great horned owls in our Atlanta woods. Maybe Mom, Dad and baby 'cause it's their nesting season. I saw one with a squirrel and it is huge (the owl)! Hilarious!

Had a huge surprise and unexpectedly scored on the orchid front here at Maypop. We are prepping the kitchen garden and went of to a Big Box for lime and manure. Lawdy, lawdy they had blooming, named and awarded Tolumnias for $6.95. Here in Southern Appalachia, rural GA! Three followed me home. Then there was a young, but close to bloom size, Epicatt. Rene Marques 'Flame Thrower' for cheap that was worth a sudden lapse in my species rule. I'll post photos in a few days.

Todd, you grow orchids that are so unique to me and I love them all. I'm feeling accomplished with a bit of success in the Paph. department.

Sandra, I love the red of the Vuylstekeara and the wonderful shape and markings of paph lowii.

Great show Todd, they are all beauties.

Kathy, gotta love those Cymbidiums.

Wilsonara Kolibri, an exchange plant from Todd.
