You are so right... It's kind of like daylilies, too (and there's another idea for a blog post)... they only bloom for that one day, but that's ok with them. They give that one day all they have, and brighten the world around them, not worrying about what will happen next (yeah, plants don't think, but you know what I mean).
Anyway... the acupuncturist showed me the x-rays...there's a great big ball of arthritis and other stuff centered around her lumbar-sacral region. It literally looks like a ball -- you can see the circle's edges, and it was NOT small. No wonder poor girl was yelping. She did an acupuncture treatment and something with a laser while we were there, and we go back every 2 weeks for the next 6 weeks, and then we hope to start stretching it out. We'll probably be going every six weeks for the rest of her life, or for as long as my budget allows. We can't stop what's happening, but we can slow the deterioration.
And there's no timeline -- we could have another three years together (which would make her ancient, in greyhound years), or not. So one day at a time, enjoying what we have, pampering her where we can, and making sure she knows how much I love her and appreciate her presence in my life.
