The last thread was getting really long so i figured I should start a new one. I can't keep up with all the great orchids!

Our local supermarket just brought in some mini phals...my goodness, I never realized phals could be so small! These blooming babies are in 2" pots! I picked up two. Both are clones of Doritaenopsis Sogo Vivien...this one is called Red Dragon

Paphiopedilum Lynleigh Koopowitz.....first flower (3 years ago) was deformed...second one broke (last year) and finally a third opened reasonably well.

Hilarious! Great minds think alike. I planned on starting it tomorrow! I would ask that any dial up people would let us know when the thread is too long. I have no sense of when to start another other than mid-month.

Those phals are adorable. I have seen solid ones like my white (also in a 2" fancy! orchid pot), but never a striped one. Beautiful!

Paphiopedilum Lynleigh Koopowitz is one of my all time favorite hybrids. She always makes me swoon. Great shot.

I love the shine and hairs and colors of the Paph primulinum var. purpurascens. I sure hope my primulinum comes back to life!

I was somewhat disappointed with the primulinum because I thought it was the yellow one.....when I saw the pink pouch as the flower was opening I realized something was not quite right. Oh well, guess I'll have to pick up the yellow version some day.

I had the same issue with my Epi porpax, only the reverse. I thought it was the red pocket one but it had a green pocket (alba). I was disappointed and will someday get the red.
I have always wanted the paph venustrum var alba. Do you have that?

We are on a generator right now!! I am so glad we bought it.
We came home around 9 pm from the girl's birthday party ( they turned 3 yesterday) in very foul and stormy weather. It seems the power had cut out around 5 pm. It was warm enough not to have to start up the generator last night, but we did it this morning. ( temp in the greenhouse was 58F ( no problem). Now we have to learn how much gasoline this thing sucks up.
In the meanwhile - thanks for the ooohs and ahhs regarding the Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia'. Smiling It is indeed a show right now with those two plants in the living room.
Fred, your Eplc. Don Herman 'Gold Rush' HCC-AOS looks great, yes, I can see how this one must bloom for you. You did a great job with the Den Golden Aye, I can't grow this one, mine just looks more miserable by the year.

Kathy, very nice pics too at the last thread! Thumbs up And we have a nice start of a new thread!

Todd, each of your Paphs. looks more exotic than the next!

Ursula, hope your power has been restored by now. Congrats on the birthday girls. Seems like they were just babies. Lovey dubby

Kathy and Ken, our Den. kingianums are in sync. Mine is also var. silcockii, Kathy, but yours appears much whiter.

I don't think that's a silcockii. They describe it as white. http://www.sborchid.com/plantd...

It seems we are in for several days of running the generator. They are talking Wednesday, perhaps even Thursday for power to restored to all.

Laurel, it is pretty!

Ursula, are you able to run other household electrical items on that generator? So glad the orchids will be safe.

Kathy, more specifically mine is Dendrobium kingianum var. silcockii ('DeChirico' x 'MC481').

We were hoping for good weather this week but it's not to be.

Kathy, Google Dendrobium 'DeChirico' and you'll see the variations including 'MC481'. That accounts for the coloration. I love your white one.
