Many of the Tall bearded iris are showing stalks, mostly those in the front yard. Only one Siberian Iris showing bloom stalks, my early blooming China Spring. Dutch Iris are also showing bloom stalks. It is early for The TB iris stalks but then it has been that kind of spring.

I just planted the FRUIT PUNCH Poppy plants I received the other day from Graceful Gardens. I bought some last year but they had not bloomed so really looking forward to blooms this year.

Those are nice. All of my daffs are done already. I didn't know that there were later blooming ones.

There are definately ones that bloom late plus also ones that bloom early. Plus I have found that anything planted the fall before blooms about two weeks later than they will in following years. And those pictured were just planted last fall. Then there seem to be micro climates in my yard were the daffs start earlier and ones were they start late. So it all makes for a nice long season.

Rita do you prune your wisteria to keep it in a shrub form or is it climbing on sonething?

It is small with a single trunk that goes up about 5 feet high and then just a nest of branches up top to make it look like a dwarf tree. It does send out runners from near the base all summer which have to be prunned off. Not climbing or suppored by anything.

Beautiful Rita. Absolutely beautiful. All of them.
Now I know the name of the Cherry Laurel. Have seen these plants
and wondered what they were. Thanks so much for sharing.
Don't you just love flowering shrubs?
First time I've seen the shrub honeysuckle. Love that one too.

The cherry laurel is just an evergreen shrub most of the year but each spring it blooms like crazy.

Good to know, very good to know. I'm needing to replace some overgrown ones,
and want to choose something different for the front of the house. The choice
is difficult, because I want shrubs that do not require trimming. I haven't noticed
the cherry laurel being trimmed where I have seen it growing.

Thanks! I really have tried to have lots of color going in the garden at most times. Of course spring is a very good time what with the fact that the treees and shrubs all bloom. Big Grin Green Grin!

Right now wood hyaciths are blooming now in the southside rose garden. I have roses, lilies, and spring bulbs in there.
