If you live in or near Ohio, you might want to check your forecast. We have a frost warning. I'll cover my wintersown stuff.

The big leaf pile got some use tonight. I've covered new transplants and hostas with them, and covered the clematis and wisteria with sheets. Tender seedlings in containers are back indoors.

The water in the bird bath is frozen this morning, so we had to be below freezing for at least a couple of hours last night.

We're at 36°, wind chill 27°, tonight supposed to be colder. I don't want to hear "wind chill" in April.

Yikes! I had a long, variable spring, where it seemed that Jan and early Feb were warmer than late Feb and early March!

My 10-day forecast has lows of 34-47 (and we've seen few as low as 36 since our last frost, March 19.

10-day forecasted highs are 49-59.

With the record warm temps we had in March and everything being 4-6 weeks ahead of schedule I knew I would either have very beautiful, colorful gardens and yard this year or a lot of nothing.

It's 28 here now, my wisteria that had probably over 1000 buds on it is now laden with droopy, mushy buds. The same can probably be said for my lilacs and other spring flowering shrubs and trees. It's a sad day indeed Sad

I don't think we got a frost at all. The lowest temp I've seen this morning was 36°. (predictions were for lows in the 20s, so much for weather forecasts!). After the sun came up there was no visible frost on rooftops or anything else.

I did cover my wintersown jugs with towels. I haven't looked at the seedlings yet but I don't expect any damage at all. Our 10 day forecast is for cooler temps than we've been having but lows around 40, with only Wednesday being 36°. We'll see. But these cooler temps aren't going to help sprout the rest of my wintersown seeds.

We had hard freezes the past two nights. Seedlings under cover look okay, so far. Lilacs, magnolias, flowering cherries and agastache are showing some strain, but I've hosed off the frost each morning, and that seems to help quite a bit. Most of my susceptible plants are covered in (fall) leaves, but there's a lot of agastache out there.
