I think these are amazing....pre-soak mix with your potting mix and keeps the plant supplied with water available for weeks!. also used in the ground and rooting cuttings. i have pineapple tops growing these for 4 years just keep adding water about every 3-4 weeks

here is a pictorial of how much water a tiny bit can absorb


start with 1 Tablespoon crystails and 1 cup warm water...............3 min what looks like......................8 min all water is adsorbed......yield 1 cup and 1/4 hydrated .some what but..


in to larger container add 1 more cup warm water......5 min later...................................all water is absorbed ..yield 2 1/2 cup.....some what but into a 4 cup container



add 1 more cup water(3 so far)..............................10 min later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and finally add 1 more cup water (TOTAL 4 CUPS)AND IN 20 MIN YOU HAVE AT LEAST 4 CUPS HYDRATED WATER CRYSTALS

THE FINAL RESULTS NO LIQUID LEFT

now use that in a pot mixed 2/3 good potting mix and 1/3 the HYDRATED CRYSTALS and most all of your plants would be good for 3x longer with out watering.

I purchased some of these several years ago. My husband and I do the gardening for our church. We had coleus under a large tree. I had put a pinch of these under each plant as they went into the ground. A storm came through and took the tree down. I was sure the coleus would die, but they did wonderful, never wilting in the heat. I believe the reason was the crystals, and we use them now with all of our plantings.

A tiny bit goes a loooong way.

thanks for the stories (testimonial) the only problem i have ever had is when i planted with out hydrating i think they are amazing i still have some im selling and if you look at the prices anywhere im a LOT more cost effective REMEMBER mine are the good ones that last.

if you hydrate two many spread on metal pan and in sun they can be dried and then re-hydrated often

Mike, I'd buy more, but not knowing better, I bought 3, yes 3, pounds of them. I've used them for 2 years that I can remember, and I've given some away to friends. I spilled a gallon bag of hydrated ones in my vegetable garden, and I still have a quart canning jar full of dehydrated crystals for this year and probably next year, too.

Yea i bought 10 lbs of them can you imagine when i put i think 1 cup in a 5 gal bucket and filled it with water and had 5 gal of hydrated ones these are amasing. First time i saw them in a small pack of 2 TBLs i so hard and said id have to buy there store out to get anything done
well i will never use all of them thats why i decided to sell little over 1/2 of them. I wondered why the person i got them from chuckled when i said 10 lbs well it was not hard to see

and NEVER spill down the drain if you do you might have to call a plumer!!!!

its all good what i have left is fine ill use them i have a problem using them in shallow gardens in my sand. its blow sand and if i dont grind them fine and amend the sand they float to the top and then it looks like an ice path!!!

I am going to use these when plant my Elephant Ears and my Canna's in large pots.

I have used the small crystals before and I loved them. I had never thought to hydrate them before mixing with the soil. I did not do that once and I thought the plant was going to pop out of the pot after they swelled up...lol

Holy cow Mike, you were right about these things. One little tiny pebble size crystal, grew to the size of a small rock. 2 x2. to 2 x3....lol

grind them up for smaller pieces and they mix with soil better BUT they hold less water and then you need to water more often
