I looked out the kitchen window this morning and knew it was vanda day in Odessa. This is V. Bitz's Heartthrob X V. Simirun. It is just opening today, is a first time bloomer for me and I love it.

And here is something easy on the eyes...Brassavola David Sander just opened today. Other buds to come on this one. This is one of my favorite orchids.
Name: Carol Santa Ana, ca Sunset zone 22, USDA zone 10 A.
Wonderful Vanda show Jim! Please tell me you wouldn't really compost one just because it isn't going along with the crowd. I suppose when you can get them that cheap, they're not worth the wait. I'm almost ready to take pictures of the two new roots on my adopted one!
Perhaps my David Sander will be big enough to bloom that nicely one of these days!! I picked up a freebie baby 5 or 6 years ago. Jim, it is very nice on the eyes indeed.
Pretty Vandas! And the Ascda Crownfox has a beautiful shape and pattern!!
My David Sander is mounted on a 1 X 4 inch ruff ceder board. I hung the board on the side of the barrel that houses the bottle palm. Now the roots go half way around the barrel. I hope I never have to pry it off of there. It really seems happy mounted.
Most of my vandas have 3 to 4 feet of hanging root.

True Todd, but there's not a phrag within miles of here and paphs only come to visit every three years or so. Every plant has its place. I have to buy my slippers from L.L. Bean.
