3 more seedlings in bloom today. There are also lots of stalks coming so in a few days there will be more in bloom and I will be more choosey on posting pictures.
Thumb of 2012-04-15/Paul2032/ddf2ee I might name this one'Compostable'

Thumb of 2012-04-15/Paul2032/1025b4 An undistinguished little yellow. Bye bye....

Thumb of 2012-04-15/Paul2032/9efd9b The last two are the same flower...a lovely red I wish it had a little fancier form.

I think that little yellow is adorable -- and who knows, maybe it will grow on you as it blooms more. Please don't compost it yet. Also, I'd love to know the crosses of your seedlings if possible.

Betty....My seedlings are planted so closely to each other that I have a hard time locating my ID stakes. I'm clumsy and have already broke off a couple of stalks. I want to know so I'm going to look.

Well, please don't hurt yourself or your little darlings on our behalf -- you can always let us know later, after they've finished blooming, if it's easier. I know what you mean about being clumsy. I get out there in my iris beds every day, and I'm always chomping down on something because I'm so clumsy and lose my balance very easily -- I've even been known to grab onto an iris stalk to steady myself as I plow through!

Not really -- the doctor spent an hour trying to "clean up" the arthritis and said I need a knee replacement and that I literally have no cartilage in a few spots. But he suggested we could try the gel injections first -- and needless to say I'm going to put all of that off as long as possible -- years, hopefully. And that's not even my worst knee! I have my little stool for weeding, but it's getting harder to take pictures, especially if the flowers are short. I'm sure you can relate, Paul! This getting older is not for the faint of heart, eh?

I get down on the ground and sit or lay on my side, can't kneel. When I get up I check to see that no one is looking. It is quite a site.

I have heard of folks using poles to get up and down (ie- we have discussed pole dancing) And my sister has major knee problems and is having to make some of the same decisions as you Betty. I think she is looking at knee surgery in a month or so though. She does dog tracking judging, and is a dog trainer, so she needs those knees (don't we all)

I especially like the red one, the yellow one just glows. But I can understand your choices. ~Jan
