I noticed a neighbor that has a couple of huge clumps of a PCI in almost full sun, they are in full bloom right now, I need to go over there and get some shots, it's a pretty blue and white bloom from what I can see.

Betty -- it must have been a post at Cubits (about Joe Ghio), but I'd have to go look for it. I do know that his most recent introduction was done in conjunction with another person, and their name was listed first as the hybridizer. And the cultivar name is *That's All Folks*. And as you said, considering his age and physical condition........................

Mary Ann.....Joe Ghio introduced 'That's All Folks' for Bill Maryott several years ago. It is one of my favorites.

Just for clarity, 'That's All Folks' was hybridized by Bill Maryott (and introduced with Joe Ghio). It was Maryott's last introduction. Joe Ghio has introduced dozens of iris since then.

Oops, cross posted, Sorry Paul.

OK -- I don't know where I got the impression that that was a recent introduction. And apparently the name isn't a cryptic message. Which is a good thing. Ghio Irises are my favorites -- and I hope he continues for years. And if not, it'll take me years to collect what he has done. It's one of my goals................

Thanks for the input, guys!

Beautiful, Sue!

OK, I hate to show my ignorance, but what is a "cryptic message"? And does this mean that Bill Maryott is retiring? I'm totally confused now... It's not easy being me!

No, as you know, the name of that iris was his message that he was quitting the iris breeding business. Green Grin!

Some SDBs, IBs, BBs, and TBs are all blooming here now. A little weird but kind of neat too.

Protocol - IB - Always liked this iris. Every year it produces some flowers with four of everything instead of three. Not sure what's up with that.
Thumb of 2012-04-20/KentPfeiffer/9b3896

Petit Frere - BB

Check It Out - TB

Cee Jay - IB

Hoo Doo Blues - BB

New Tomorrow - TB - An older variety that I keep intending to get rid of, but never quite do.

Tullyherron - TB - I love reverse amoenas, and grow a lot of them, this isn't one of my favorites though. It does smell wonderful and is a great grower, I'll give it that.

Joyce Ragle - TB - It's first bloom in my garden. Really impressed with this one. It has tall, strong stalks that produce BIG flowers with heavy substance.
Thumb of 2012-04-20/KentPfeiffer/fd7d8e

Magnificent Masterpiece - TB - finally have a picture that is close to the true color

Montmartre - TB - Just wanted to show another shot of this beauty

Mulberry Echo - TB - The best it has ever looked in my garden
Thumb of 2012-04-20/KentPfeiffer/bead26

Ozark Rebounder - TB
Thumb of 2012-04-20/KentPfeiffer/ced92f

Picture Book - TB - Living up to its reputation as a great pink iris

Bluebeard's Ghost - SDB

Lady Of The Night - BB - Opens almost black, but quickly becomes a rich dark purple

Noble Gesture - TB - Great great great iris. Not such a great picture, I hope to get some better ones in the coming days.

Wow -- Beautiful pictures, Kent, and I can't believe the combination of irises you have blooming right now! I love your MONTMARTRE, and I'm so glad you like PICTURE BOOK -- and so many other beauties blooming at the same time! I think it's amazing that you have LADY OF THE NIGHT blooming this early -- it always blooms quite late in the season for me. And your pictures of LOTN are fantastic! I can tell that NOBLE GESTURE is a beauty -- I'm going to love those ruffles, if and when it ever blooms for me.

I'm running days behind on pictures now -- hopefully I'll catch up by tomorrow...
