Yes, the tag reads Alcra. Hilo ablaze 'Hof'. I bought it at a recent show from a vendor I'm not familiar with, so it could be misspelled. What ever it is I like it. It even has a light scant in the evening. Hilarious!

Carol, the name of your plant is correct according to RHS but the A in ablaze should be capitalized as in Ablaze.

Kathy, as I mentioned in an earlier post in the Orchid Questions forum (Orchid Questions for New and Old Growers) http://cubits.org/orchids/thre..., my Miltoniopsis look much healthier after not being fertilized for a year and now only get fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks. If you look closely at older leaves they have somewhat similar mottling to the phal. you had presented. Difficult to tell from picture but the next to last growth the leaves look a little better and the most recent growth has clear leaves although a few wrinkles. I am truly convinced these plants (Miltoniopsis as well as many of it's closely related hybrids) don't require much fertilizer.

Right Ken. I tip my hat to you. Forgot you were talking about these orchids. I have gone to every three weeks since you posted that and I'm trying not to overwater. Hilarious! It's so good to see a plant come back from the edge!! Hurray!

Thumb of 2010-10-06/bree/217e34the dorsal sepal measures 3 inches across, flowers neally 5 inches long. I would have kept the stem straight though if i'd flowered it. Will be next flowering.

That's a nice size bloom.

My Chrisanda Memoria Anri Bracker is blooming again. This is a very tall, slender plant, the plant shot shows only ca 2/3 of the plant and the short spike typically produces only 3 - 5 bloom over several weeks. No scent, but I like the pretty blooms.

I have a bad history with teretes but that sure is a wonderful one. I have one now that I hope to keep alive (Luifinetia) and get over my last failure! How big is the flower?

That sounds like the proportions are quite nice (proportion is a big factor in what I like visually in all areas)! If I can get my Luifinetia to bloom, I may look for this one!

Watering and opera day. I sorta wish I could just stay home and take pictures and cut down the gardens. And then there are the reports for work......you see they are the bottom of the list!
The Good News: Do you remember that I knocked off a spike on my Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima'? Well it looks like I still have a tiny bottom branch to the spike that will bloom so I can see some flowers.

The Bad News: Yesterday I almost found out what the "Coelia yellow bottom" really was, but I was cleaning up debris and broke off A HIDDEN SPIKE that was forming underneath. This, after many years of care for this mystery plant. I took the spike apart and it looked like a plume of single flowers going up the sides of the spike. Could this be a coelia??? So frustrating!!!!! I hate being stupert.
