Had a few surprises today.
Slc. Mem. Alvin Begeman 'Poem' opened a bloom. Unfortunately it had lots of scale under the pseudobulb covers so I've sprayed it with the Bayers. But I think I will repot it fairly soon so I can get the bottom of the pseudobulbs.
I broke the top of the spike off this Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima' but it had a few buds left. It's starting to open and now it's sending out another full spike. I assume I am being rewarded for some nice thing I must have done for someone!! I hope!
Coelogyne Gold Bug is right behind Ursula's.
Not sure what's going on with this Catt. The buds seem floppy. I was excited that I have 4 buds. Hope they are okay! We'll see!
The usual suspects.
Good looking plants Ursula, the Vanda family blooms are gorgeous.
Another great show Kathy, Phrag Memoria Estelle Getty is a knockout and Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima' is a keeper, it's hard to keep a good plant down.
Lc Summer Camp 'Eureka' is a large plant with better than 6 in tall blooms that smell heavenly.
Odontioda Stirbic ‘65119’, a first time bloomer that has some nice crimson red color.
Just finished fertilizing. Opera all day! Took a few pics as the backpack sprayer was filling.
Coelogne Golden Bug
Dendrobium tetragonum var. giganteum
Phrag Carol Kanzer with 4 flowers open
Phrag Memoria Estelle Getty
Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima'
Wonderful show, Kathy. Coelogne Golden Bug
and the dendrobium tetragonum are fantastic. Also, I always love seeing slippers.
I went to a small orchid show/ sale at the botanical gardens this morning. As I walked among the usuall fair, something caught my eye. This is what I saw:
So, I looked closer:
The tag read V. Sanderiana, var. alba. The price was steep but I hadn't bought anything else so I went for it.

One last pic.

My noid Orchid which looks a lot like Lc Irene Finney but opens every year like clockwork around the 20. of October, ( for almost 20 years) is now fully open. (Lc Irene Finney is a Spring bloomer)
5 full spikes this year, the blooms are beautifully fragrant.
It is one of my very favorites!
I must post a picture of my blue Vanda.."Mood Indigo".I had it outside for most of the summer and when I brought it in ..there was a spike. It opened up this week. Thanks Ken for your help in finding it.I'm pretty well house bound so most of my plants come from Sobeys.I still get out to buy my groceries [and orchids] Joy
