My Cischweinfia sheehanae is blooming - the flowers are about 1 inch across. ( From Parkside in Summer 2009)

And there is the dark reddish-violet bloom with a beautiful iridescent sparkle which I find very difficult to capture, but the shade in my pictures comes close.

This is still a very small plant, I am happy it is blooming.

Love the Cischweinfia and great color on 'Neptune'. And, even at my age, dancing ladies bring a smile.

Jim, I couldn't resist picking up the Dancing ladies, haven't had a nice plant like that in years. Besides, Klaus likes them too.

Ornithophora radicans is blooming this week and I love the wonderful sweet honey scent.
The whole plant measures now 2 feet across.

Birdies!! My little guy dropped a bunch of leaves but is making a few spikes now. Maybe I should place it in front of the monitor to view it's monster relative for inspiration!!!

Today's pics. Can you believe we went from sun to hail and now showers in a half hour so far? Now the sun came out. In New England, we say if you don't like the weather, wait a minute.
We saw the Chiara String Quartet (they are doing all the Beethoven String Quartets, intense) last night and I'm listening to them on the radio now (Brahm's Clarinet Quintet). Orchids go well.

Ursula show that last one to Klaus so he can see the sun on the paphs.

The usual suspects continue. Vandofinetia White Crane, Ascda. Susan Ong 'Ah Mooi', Lc. Luna, Neostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray, my new Blc. Dennis Kone 'Lakeview,' Dendrobium tetragonum var. giganteum which has 3 more buds, Phrag Carol Kanzer with Phrag Memoria Estelle Getty on the left, Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima,' and my distorted but beautiful dendrobium with a previous pic for comparison.

Vanda Pachara Delight has opened, too. Here it is with sun streaming through. The first spike dried up so this is the second with fewer flowers I believe.

You know, I measured a few of the individual growths, they are somewhere between 5,5 and 7 inches. So I would think it just passed the miniature status? It is close!

(Here was the old definition for everyone: "Miniature Orchids are defined as naturally occurring small Orchids not to exceed 6 inches/15 cm excluding inflorescence.")

Well, the leaves may not make it but those birdie flowers are teeny tiny. Hilarious!
