I did this one 5 years ago. 2 half wire baskets ziptied together. I toss it in the flowerbed for the winter and usually have to replace a couple

Joanna it is great to see that ball again. Is that a recent photo?
How often do you water it?
Is it stuffed with moss, or is there soil in the middle? I don't remember.

Always good for a chuckle

Here's a photo from this morning (the other photos are from previous years.

There is potting soil in the middle. planted it in 2008 and it seems to still be ok as far as nutrients go. I don't intentionally water it. Rain and sometimes it gets water if I put the sprinkler on the nearby flowerbed

Here's some photos of our little group planting these up in 2008. We did a little workshop in my garage since it was pouring rain that day

Joanne, When I make my living wreaths I let them lay flat for a few weeks till the roots grow in. I was wondering if you let your half's set separately to root before joining them.

The other ladies did, but I zip-tied mine together and hung it up that day. I put a bit of wire to hold the bottom ones in at 1st. The others had great results with waiting a couple of weeks to join the 2 halves

Hello all,

I just run across this thread and talk about timing!!! Hurray! I have just gotten interested in growing succulent's and have found that semp's & sedum's are what i'm attracted to the most.I absolutely love the balls yall have made.I don't think these succulents would make it through a whole winter here.So far i have started out with just a few plants at a time. When i figure out all the care info i need to know to grow these beautifully different plants(different from what i already grow) I would love to try the ball.Shooting for maybe next summer on that project.

I absolutely love every picture i've seen here!! I tip my hat to you. You have all lovely plants!!! Green Grin! nodding

Do you get freezing weather and/or snow Jelinda?
If so they should just love your area during winter. Thumbs up

we get snow about everything 2 or 3 years and freezing weather about the same.I live in central Ga.and it hasn't been getting very cold here lately.I think last year we had about 2 weeks maybe 3 and not all at the same time of temp's below 30*.I didn't realize semp's were that cold hardy. Are they the only ones or are all succulents that cold hardy. If you know of a web site, link that i can get some info on care of these plants,i will appreciate being able to learn about them on a good web site.I've only grown jade & elephant bush plants, that's the only type of succulents i have any experience with until a friend passed away awhile back and recently her hubby realized her succulents were either dying or looking really bad and her gave me some.I'm still trying to figure out what they all are.and how to care for them.

What fun plants you have Jelinda. I do see a pot of sempervivum and they look nice and healthy.

Photo 1 looks like a pot containing Sedum burrito Baby Burro's Tail (Sedum burrito)
and Sedum rubrotinctum Jelly Bean (Sedum x rubrotinctum)

I am not sure what the succulents are in the second photo. Over in the ID Forum they should be able to help you with those two. : )

Third photo are the sempervivum. You can find all the help you need on growing these, right here at ATP. Hurray!

Fourth photo is some type of Grapto-- (petalum, vera, sedum)? I'm not very good at identifying the tender succulents.

Fifth photo looks like it might contain one of the jade type plants. Not sure what the others are, the photo is a little fuzzy?
