Don't you love the Richard Mueller crosses? This one looks very close to Blc Rustic Spots and surely similar to a few more of these pretty hybrids! I like them very much!

I agree I have both SG and RS. (For those who don't know, Bc. Richard Mueller is a parent and he is L. milleri x B. nodosa. Does anyone know why they aren't Blcs then?).

In the meanwhile - my Stanhopea connata is flowering this week. I got it in the Spring 2008 ( from Woodland Orchids) and it bloomed on a small plant ( as promised) in the Fall of 2009 and now again. The short-lived blooms are strongly scented, many people would consider the scent somewhat medicinal, since it smells a bit like sweet Camphor. I like it.

Great bloom!!! I like camphor smells too. But then I love the smell of silage and gasoline so don't go by me! I took a good whiff of King George this morning and it smells like cold cream or baby powder. As far as my confusion, seems like both Rustic Spots and Sunset Glory should be Blcs because of the laelia in R. Mueller, but I don't always understand the names by my logic!! Hilarious!

A couple of things here this morning -
Bc Binosa 'Tetraploid' is almost open ( Kathy, a green one for you?)
Thumb of 2010-11-17/Ursula/18597d Thumb of 2010-11-17/Ursula/d30c9e

Sc Crystelle Smith 'Rheagan' opened a a couple of single blooms but I see more spikes with 2 buds emerging. I love the porcelain -like blooms on a small manageable plant.
Thumb of 2010-11-17/Ursula/75ac75

And the Prra Motes Leprechaun 'Haiku Mint' opened more of the fragrant blooms.
