I had posted the Laelia mixta in this thread, here is a follow up.

Bulbophyllum medusae
a first bloom on a small plant picked up years ago. In the meanwhile I had bought a a large plant, ridiculously cheap which bloomed like out of this world and then went belly up no matter what I did to save it.

Pleurothallis restrepioides
this is a restart of a very large plant that became totally unmanageable.

Funky minis Ursula!

Ken, I see you got Gertle Gale from Paramount...I have it too but the plant is rather weak. My Odont. Camouflage from Paramount is spiking...it should be a full round odont as well.

First flower is open on Dend. White Rabbit...strange name for a pink orchid! It is my first attempt at a nobile type and it has quite a few buds coming. The flowers are much larger than I thought.

Kathy, re Paphs- being terrestrial- I believe they like getting some water from the bottom up, so when watering leave a saucer under them and let some water stand in it...it will be gone in a day or two. But only water once thoroughly a week and maybe another small amount.

Good show Ursula, love the bright cheery look of Laelia mixta and the wild look of medusae. I don't have Pleurothallis, looks like I might have to try one.

Todd, rabbits are quite often associated with pink especially around Easter, how they make the association I'm not sure, but I am sure it makes for a very pretty dendrobium.

Turn you back on this site for a minute and miss tons of beautiful blooms. Kathy, great show. I like them all.

Ken, it's good to see your blooms again. I especially like Blc Rustic Spots.

Ursula, love the medusae, one of my favorite orchids. Mine is in spike but taking its time due to the cool weather. None of my orchids are happy but who knows, perhaps a paph will bloom. Whistling I also like your Pleurothallis restrepioides.

Todd, wonderful slippers as usuall and nice soft color on the white rabbit.

Lindsey, if you add the extension before calling the electrician he could hook them both up at once, perhaps saving money.

Any tips on getting Lycastes to bloom, Ursula (what a great one Phoebe is!) ? I have about 6 and they still have leaves and live in the cool room. No sign of buds.

This poor Cym sinense Pacific Ocean burned lots of it's beautiful variegated leaves but it has 2 spikes. I believe these are the New Years cyms in China appropriately (supposed to be early Feb). BTW, the scent is already strong on this slightly open flower!

Kathy, I am glad the Schom is opening nicely for you! Smiling
About the Lycaste - mine never get any cool treatment, they are sitting in the lower tiers of the greenhouse and they can't help but getting watered.
But, I do wonder - watching the gigantic leaves on an Anguloa slowly dying off, the leaves do shield the pseudobulbs/medium in the pot from getting too soaked. Just a thought, I have no idea if that is the key for sure.

Here is one of my favorite Dendrochilums opening this week. This is Dendrochilum cootesii and again the spikes emerge along with those new leaves, rolled around the spikes at the time of opening.
pretty lace?

l'm trying to post this from my new tablet. It seems like everyone is doing well except me. It is dropping into the nid 40s at night and my orchids are not happy. The alternative is the garage where they are also unhappy. I will just have to wair it out.

Hey, Jim, don't despair. We all take turns with bad seasons. Not that it's fun! Group hug

My DBF has an iPad and I often post with it.

We got about 4-5" of snow last night and I am sick sick today (got a stomach bug on Thursday and now I am coughing constantly). Looks like I'll be listening to the opera today from home.

I like the new tablet but there is much I still have to learn. The calendar feature is nice and I have all of my MG talks entered into it. I still need to get a carring case for it but they seem so over priced. I'm waiting for a sale. I love the snow picture but am glad I don't have to deal with it. To pick up my spirits, I have been watching the forcast for Fort Wayne, Indiana; the place where I grew up. It makes my overnight low of 45 degrees seem pretty reasonable. It also reminds me of why I got out of there as soon as I could. A look at my genealogy would suggest I was made for the cold but I never liked it. I must be the family wimp. Rolling my eyes.

Ursula, I understand why cootesii is one of your favorite dendrobiums. It is quite impressive.

Haha. I lived in AZ for a 2 year break from winter (great grad program). I felt a bit balmy to be moving back to the cold north but it's where my heart is....and my perennial garden. I did garden in AZ and went to the Tucson Bot Garden every Sunday morning in order to stay there that long. I miss the light and the scents from AZ at times but I would miss New England all the time. One of my fav things that happens in winter here is how 30 degrees is so cold at first and then it seems like hot weather after weeks in the teens or below. I bet I would feel like putting on shorts for 45 degrees. Some of the teens at school do it!!

Ursula, cootesii goes on the wishlist. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Jim, it sounds like a practical gadget! Thumbs up

Kathy, cute Cym bloom! And take care of yourself. (Yes, opera today!)

Glad you like the cootesii too.

We got about 4-5 inches of the white stuff yesterday. I brought my Angraecum sesquipedale into the living room, using the snow as background. Tried some pictures, as one of the buds on the keiki just opened too.
I find the whole plant in bloom doesn't photograph well, since the spikes develop laterally. At least they get to rest on the leaves as the weight of the flowers tends to pull the spikes a bit. I am always amazed how thick and waxy the flowers are.
Here are some more pics.

I love it, Ursula. Mine is spiking big time but the cold is delaying it.
