Any chance we could get the ability to nest quotes? That way, we could have more than one part of a conversation quoted when we're replying to it. I understand if you prefer not to, because it can get hairy if ppl don't clean it up when quoting, but it would be nice if hitting the "quote" button would quote the entire post, and not just the most recent comment in it.

Here's an example of what I'm used to... (click to embiggen)

You're right that it can get hairy when people don't clean it up - that's the problem and it's the reason I've never supported nested quotes before.

I never liked seeing it on other forums where there are nested quotes 15 posts deep because the laziness of the people quoting. I like the nice and tidy look of just quoting one person at a time and I think it would be best for us to keep it that way. Smiling

I understand.

Don't suppose there's a way to limit nesting to just 2 quotes? Green Grin!

I'd rather not unless you have a compelling reason to do so.

Somehow, I can't convince myself that "cause I want it" is a compelling reason Hilarious!

But if you see my recent post in the seed trading thread, you'll see what prompted the question. If I had just quoted your reply to me, my response wouldn't have made sense, especially as today's post was a couple pages after the one I was quoting.

I just had to ask the question -- your answer (and decision) are sufficient for me Smiling
