Oh Jim, it was horrible, my mother in laws dog spent the weekend at our house , chasing the cat around.
Some how, some one bumped the cold water handle on the whirlpool tub where the phals had been living
since the sun needy cats had taken the window...anyway...long story long...the tub slowly filled to capacity
with ice cold water and when I woke up in the morning at least 20 Phals were floating in the water, clay pots
sunken to the bottom..bark chips every where, it was a colossal mess! Most of them were in spike and I fully
expected to loose them all. But here's proof of how easy it is to get Phals to flower!

Thanks Kathy- i don't have half the orchids you have but now you say it i supose i do always have one flowering. I find most of my Paphs flower autumn/winter and some catts spring/summer. Its the beginning of Autumn here now and only had a few catts flower over this summer. The humidity is ridiculas here atm. It never really gets that cold here so i supose some orchids are mixed up when to flower. hehe! Hilarious!
Lovely flowers jim! yes i have a soft spot for Maxima..and i don't even have one...yet! I have a L. tenebrosa that may not be old enough to flower yet.

Good one, Ursula. Hilarious!

I like the Potinara also. It would go well with my Lc Gold Digger.

I'm off to the garden to move plants in preparation for the construction.

Ursula,
Love your March entries. Very nice. I used to grow a lot of these Catt and Epi types, still enjoy them (especially in someone elses greenhouse).

I commented on Kathy's post before but now I see I must have forgotten to hit the 'finished' button. Anyway, I thought it was Bc Little Stars but I see it is now Binosa. They must have changed it when I wasn't looking...again. It seems like they change the names faster than I can keep up with the name tags and I am runniing low on name tags. I wish they would give it a rest. I don't remember having these problems with corn and soy beans while growing up in Indiana. Confused

I also like Blc Solar Flare and the Bc Punakea. Now if I can remember to hit the finished button...

Kathy, it makes sense. Smiling

My Rhyncholaelia glauca is opening a couple more blooms, I thought it was done for the season. It took the plant downstairs now to enjoy the lovely scent in the evening.

Never cut the spent spikes on Barkeria melanocaulon, it will produce more small spikes in the way Tolumnias do. The plant blooms this way for months!

Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia' is still a work in progress, but the "Fire" is starting to dance above the leaves. I am counting ca 25 spikes amongst the 2 plants.
Kathy, you asked how it was potted? Here you can see the coconut mat-lined wire-basket. In Summer I hang the baskets into the ceiling of the cage outside. And there is the Potinara Red Heart above it in its Coconut shell, it needs a better basket soon.
It was really raining hard yesterday in the left picture.

Dendrobium nobile var. album is still blooming in the ceiling. I had to sort of hold the camera into the direction of the blooms, there is no room to back up.

And today Vanda Martha Ragan still holds its blooms. ( Or should I say her)
