Thanks Kathy.
I took pictures of other Orchids in bloom today and at one point I turned around, looked at the Potinara and thought it looked so pretty in the sunlight. so I just shot another quick picture without any special consideration to settings. Wouldn't you know it, the color is spot on.

Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia' today, it has a few more spikes to open, but we are slowly getting there. The Potinara ( with fairly correct shade too.... Smiling ) hangs above it.

Vanda Robert's Delight 'Black' - I have been watering plant and buds/blooms daily and started to bend the flower parts back to avoid the cupped look.
Thumb of 2011-03-13/Ursula/545a40

Ascocentrum christensonianum opened very slowly 2 nice spikes. In addition, a small one on a keiki has been blooming for a couple of months now and is turning pale.

This plain Dendrobium moniliforme puts out some occasional blooms every so often.

Phragmipedium Jason Fischer is blooming for weeks now, unfortunately the plant was in a too warm spot and that spike produces only misshapen blooms.
I moved the plant to a cooler spot and a second growth initiated a better spike, the first flower on that is normal! Whew!!

And looking ahead, Lc Rojo opens two good spikes.

Wonderful show here!

Bree, what is the name of that Vanda? I really like it!

Kathy, I like all of them. Cym 'Cecil Park' is worthy of special mention. I also really like the Maxillaria.

Ursula, I see you have replaced the iron for daily watering on Roberts Delight and it seems to be working. Good tip. You have a wonderful assortment of red and pink colors. I am very ford of Ascocentrum christensonianum and Oncidium Twinkle. Good show!

L. purpurata werkhauserie 'Monte X C. gaskelliana coerulea has arrived. Funny story on this one; I went to the Tampa Orchid Show about three years ago looking for a Laelia purpurata. I was disappointed that there were none for sale and finally settled on this cross at the last minute. I have yet to second guess the decision.

Very nice Jim, Those white phals with the reddish lips are my favorite. That catt. is also nice. I like the way the outside of the throat is so white and the inner part has that nice purple/blue.

These orchid's are amazing. I am just a beginner, and am in awe. Kathy, it was great seeing you at the Amherst Show. Thanks for leading me to this blog, too. I know that I will have questions!

Hi Jo!! It was great to see you, too. This is a very fun place and don't be shy with questions. Beware of my buying shoes that I loan out to others! It's hard to not fall in love. Do you take pics of your orchids? I'd love to see them. I have homework for you, too. Check out the links on the right under the database for great basic information.

Jo, welcome! Smiling

Jim, I love the Den. Upin King and the L purpurata x is really nice! Lovey dubby
And - an experienced grower told me about flipping back the Robert's Delight flower parts/ mostly dorsal sepal and petals, when the blooms are sufficiently open. And she advised to water the blooms too, especially before flipping. It does work, if one is patient enough to wait.
