Come with us now as we travel to Canada to view the gorgeous gardens of Margaret, (mcash70). Short growing seasons and long cold winters don't seem to mar the beauty of her landscape. Be sure to click on the images to enlarge them. You are going to love what you see!

You're done such a nice job, from design to maintenance. You should be proud.

Really beautiful, Your winter interest is great and the wildlife plantings wonderful. So much more than just pretty flowers although you have plenty of them as well.

Thank you Arlene. Sadly it doesn't look quite as good as it used to, age has taken it's toll on me and the garden. The past 3 hot dry summers have been brutal, and we are still in a drought, no rain all fall and no snow to speak of so far.

I understand and find myself in the same predicament. It's still such a joy to look back and see what we once had.

I agree Arlene, it was truly a labor of love and I miss it. Sighing! 2 years ago we had to have the large cottonwoods removed in the end corner bed because of disease so now there is no shade in that bed. I thought that the shade loving plants would probably die, much to my surprised they all thrived.

So glad they thrived. Between losing the shade from 14 spruces, and the miserable deer, I lost almost every plant in my once shady area.

I miss gardening as well since now I have mobility issues at 82.

We had to put a high fence around the back yard about 4 years ago to keep the deer out.

I have many health issues, but I think the one that keeps me from doing just about everything is vertigo as it makes me nauseous looking up, turning too quickly, bending over, uneven terrain. Sighing!

I went with a high fence as well.

My issue is the many problems with my spine. I'll spare you the details!

Arlene, my spine isn't in great shape either, but at least I am still mobile.

How wonderful to revisit this tour of your garden, Margaret.
Thank you for sharing your present difficulties with the garden - - - my heart goes out to both you and Arlene. I am also at a stage in life where I am incapable of working in the garden any more. Maybe when my hip replacement next year sometime, will allow more movement, I can save some of it.
Having just gone through the wonderful process of judging this year's photo contest photos, I commend you Margaret on your excellent photos. The Cedar Waxwing is my favourite. Thanks for all your beautiful contributions to this wonderful website.

Hi Nora, thank you for the nice comments on my garden tour. I am sorry that you also have health issues and can't work in your garden anymore. Our friend had his hip replaced about 6 months ago, everything went well and he is now able to do things that he hadn't been able to for quite some time. Now he needs his left knee replaced, always something.

Thank you for the kind comments on my photos. Smiling
