Congrats!! Victory is sweet. Here is Vandofinetia Virgil "#2' x Asctm curvifolium so far. I had the Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Lea' label on it because I never knew which was which, but I switched them when I saw the bud color.

It's kind of you and you've done well. My purchasing it, as I often do, is to try a new one. Mainly for the challenge. Haven't had the nerve to go with Dens or Cymbs. I just don't think they'll grow well amongst my catts.
Again, it's kind of you to alert me and it's beautiful. I'd like to see it in full bloom.
I'm no photographer as you as I've only an little Kodak Easy Share but I'm in the process of learning to photograph plants. Difficult without the dials, etc. But I do the best I can.
If you'd be so kind as to keep me up to date on the orchids I sent, I'd so appreciate it.
Believe it or not, I never forget a kindness. Lee I tip my hat to you.

Boo, indeed I did get it from C&H as I still get many of mine there.
The Psychopsis has shed its flower but true to form a bud can be seen.
I see my Sharry Baby is sending up a spike. It's not one of my favorites as it's so ubiquitous. But, at least is has a great fragrance. Sometimes, too strong. Lee
This morning I saw some grasshoppers (? lubbers) so after a should I or shouldn't I moment, I drenched them in an acephate solution. These of course are outside as I'd never use the horrid smelling stuff inside. It's always a struggle for me as to use a pesticide or not as I'm pretty environmentally friendly.
Sharry Baby: I put a rod support into the pot and loosely tied it to the bamboo with some gentle twine. I'm all ears!

I have never bought SB because I can see it in every florist and orchid friend's collection, take a whiff, and maintain room here for something I adore.

I agree with you Boo re: abundance of them. I had no idea it was spiking 'til when I was watering this morning. The spike get quite long and that's why I put in a long bamboo.
Boo, what do you think of my using acephate on the plants? They had already started nibbling the leaves. Yes, I could have picked them off but I was worried of eggs having been laid in the media. Such a tightrope for me and pesticides.
I don't like Neem oil as it reminds me of a Chinese restaurant. I love Chinese cooking but I don't want the odor amongst my plants. Angel

I don't use pesticides much outside. And I never judge others who do! We all have our own solutions to our own problems and thresholds of guilt. If I were selling plants, I would be much more aggressive. I never liked trapping mice till one ate a laelia bud I had waited to see for years. Then I started with the mouse traps. I always say "sorry" to the corpses. I can't help it. I see their perspective! Sometimes I'm tempted to taste an orchid! Hilarious!

I'll say a ' I'm sorry' to any birds which might sip from the blossoms. I've a couple reed-epidendrums a catt.called 'George King something' and one more but just can't think of it right now as I'm so fatigued from hours way up in the hills, actually the foothills of the Appalachians, helping Owen clean off the graves of his parents and others and replacing the flowers.
Oh, yes, let's do taste an orchid. You go first and I'll follow a few hrs after I know you are still with us or not. As a kid, we'd pluck honeysuckle off and get a drop of nectar from them. Whistling

Me too about the honeysuckle! It seems like the honeysuckle is different in New England so I can't do it anymore. Angry

Truly LOLOLOL. I know Boo as I did too. I'm 54 now and was nostalgic and broody over the weekend and was thinking of my younger yrs (16-30).What fun I had...and some bad ones. But I learned. I would have never won a beauty contest but I cleaned up well. LOLOL.
Have watering/feeding to do today esp. the orchids I have underneath the Japanese Maple. I fear I've neglected them but they are hardy. I must order some more 20-10-20 urea free fert as I'm out and am having to use Miracle Gro and this makes me anxious.
As me mentioned Sharry Baby y'day and how we feel about it, this morning I thought, 'At least SOMEthing is blooming.'
Because, as you might remember, I grow my plants in a couple S-S/W facing windows, I'm having to stake the spike due to its heliotropism.
Will run and and thanks once more for your ability to make me smile. Big Grin I'm all ears! Lee
