Tabby - I've never seen that type of bug (curculio). They common here? I had a few assassin bugs last year, I've seen shield beetles, and a couple of years ago I had a preying mantis in my yard. As of so far, no aphids or earwigs, but gazillions of centipedes.

I get a lot of strange bugs that people in the city don't get, living out where I do. But you'll know if you have them. They poke holes in the buds, which then wilt and die. I've been told the systemics "might" work, but I'm not willing to try it just to get rid of them. The curculios don't kill the plant, they just ruin the flowers. There's also a curculio (a different one) that poles holes in cherries too.

Quite a few years ago I had an entomologist visit my yard and he had a good time popping bugs into baggies, and said he was finding things that weren't known to be here.
