We were hanging around OSH hardware and found that they have put on sale the growcamp modular vegetable greenhouse. From USD400++ now down to USD107.50..and with their ongoing 20% discount, it came to $86.00..seeing the floor sample they have, it felt like a real good buy Big Grin

Have not set it up yet, and looking at prices elsewhere, indeed this price is quite good. Now I can place some of my container plants in a safer area Big Grin Big Grin Maybe I might then find a good motivation to start vege gardening too!

Just posting how the growcamp set-up went along:

We have removed all the plants on this wooden platform and decided to put here the growcamp. It will be beside our water fountain, so it can get more humidity. Well it is my dear hubby doing the set-up..am the assistant Big Grin

So the base frame has been set up:

Another angle of the base frame:

Showing another angle with the horizontal upper bar:

Supporting guy lines criss cross inside and plastic cover attached. Then a set of netting attached on opposite sides, and you can choose to attach as well on top of it the another set of plastic cover. We chose not to attach for now the 2nd set of plastic covers, it so warm..maybe come late fall will do that. The plastic cover and netting are slid through a tubing and velcro is used to latch it to the sides.

Inside the grow camp, there is no bottom. The idea is you can assemble this on a platform, on grass, on pavement. If a vegetable garden is the plan for this growcamp, soil will be put inside up to the edge of the lower base. But in our case, we are not going to use for a vege garden. I will house here some of my orchids and later on some other tender plants that may need shelter come colder season:

With some of my orchids inside, have used our old cubes as the plant stands, which has been my plant stand outdoors for several years already Big Grin

Just feeling happy right now, finally somewhere to safely put some of my small orchid collection outdoors Big Grin

Thanks Karen I tip my hat to you. Now we'll observe how it goes with the winds. It is easy to re-reposition this growcamp, the base and support brackets feels sturdy.

Oh, that is neat! I'd love to have one of those for my tomato plants and a few other things I can't put out yet. Very nice! Thumbs up

Edited to add: You got a really outstanding deal! Still around $400 around here! Ouch!

Yeah! That deal was really hard to resist coz I know offhand most greenhouse type like this goes for that onerous 400++ They were also selling the extension module and that one was priced at 300+. I asked them why is the extension more expensive than the base, and the garden staff said maybe they are just trying to clear old inventory.

But then again, I only need the base so it was just perfect for the platform and location we have here Hurray! Hurray!

I was looking further at the container trays that you have to buy if you want to grow additonal starter seedlings..oh my, they are quite pricey too, same price as my bargain base Rolling my eyes. So it will not be part of this set-up . Smiling

Lucky you! Costco has the base and one extension "on sale" for ONLY $599! Hilarious!

Very, very nice. Good idea to use those cubes as plant stands, too. And I love your fountain!

Very, very nice tarev! You stole that greenhouse! Thumbs up How, or do you have to anchor it down? What keeps it from becoming a giant kite! Green Grin!

Thanks Susan Big Grin You know, that was my initial apprehension, I did not see anything holding it down on the floor sample display at the store. As my hubby started the set-up, that base once assembled is heavy, not easy to budge. On the manual that came with it, it says the weight of this base module is 70.55 lbs. Right now, it is very windy outside, have been watching how it stands, so far so good! Big Grin

We've had several monsoon rains, tornado warnings. I don't know if any tornadoes were confirmed, though.

I was noticing the fountain, too, lakeside!

It looks like it was made using an old car tire, doesn't it? Makes me want to get one and fill it with concrete with some water line or something going thru it. Then when it cures cut the tire off and have a fountain just like tarev's~!

Congrats on your Growcamp, tarev. I have no doubt you're lovin' it! Great deal!

Thanks Shoe Green Grin! That fountain caught our eye as it was not traditional looking..quite heavy though Green Grin! I'd like to think of it as circle of life..or reminder to get a doughnut Hilarious! It sure fits quite well in our little space.

Yup, immensely loving the growcamp! Just the shade & protection needed this summer for the 'chids...next is how they all fare come fall to winter.

I think you could always put in some heat cables or even a small wattage light bulb if needed this winter to add extra protection to the orchids, if needed, just in case there is a super-duper winter lows for a few nights.

All in all it looks like ya'll are having fun gardening. That's one of the major reasons for what it's all about, eh?

Best,
Shoe
