Well I finally got the culprits on camera. Two colonies pulled out of the holes in the cinder block walls of the raised beds. Note the date and time stamps on the photos. Morning, afternoon and during the night. Rolling my eyes.

They don't care, at all. I've been IN the yard and they jump the fence and help me "weed" the beds. I keep telling them my roses are not weeds, my daylilies aren't either! Thumbs down

Lynn, FWIW, I have had very good luck with the liquid PlantSkydd, just make sure the winds are calm, no rain expected in 24 hours and stay upwind!

Any idea where they're coming in? It might be easy enough to block off their access.

Tim they can come over the fences, jump up the wall of the creek that goes through the back yard. Over the gates on the north and south sides of the house. Access is endless. I am fortunate that they do very little damage. They don't seem to eat anything, just pull things up and drop them. We have a neighborhood cat that has been taking care of the rodent population. We make him feel at home. Even Suzie welcomes him.
Two different days I caught on video flocks of what looks like Starlings land on the beds. They will move the roller types around. That is one reason the rollers are place far from each other.

Rj, thank you for the suggestion. If they start to really damage things I will give the PlantSkydd a try. I know goldfinch4 uses it with great success.

You can also get a motion sensor sprinkler to go off and hit them. It startles them.

Might also keep the cat out of the one bed he loves to use for a sand box.

Clever one Angelo, but it does not sound as tasty as 'Minnie' (filet mignon). Big Grin

I would suggest obtaining a stuff deer head.

And hang it from a pole in the middle of the semp beds.

Send them a message.

I also had a critter that was pulling up my baby plants.

I would walk by and plants on the bottom shelf would be pulled out of their pots and laying on the ground. I caught the culprit in the act but did not get photographic evidence.

This was my villan.

Lynn,

Am glad you identified the offender! My deer seem to take pleasure in WALKING THROUGH THE SEMPS, They don't like the bird netting though.

My major nuisance is definitely a chipmunk as it has planted sunflower seeds from the neighbors in those spots. Bought a trap and it arrived broken! Back to Amazon it goes!

Had the package been tampered with Kevin? Those chipmunks are clever little critters. Whistling
