I had a dream about an orchid last night. I was living somewhere else. I woke up and there was this huge specimen sized plant in a window covered with small blooms in a maize yellow color with spots and stripes. All the flowers had their lips upright and of course I didn't know it was going to bloom or that I even owned it!! I have had these dreams of wonder and surprise before but always about birds! I assume that orchids have taken a new dominance in my psyche for a connection to nature and an omen of possibility and wonder.

Does anyone else dream in "orchids?"

I am not sure I dream like that in Orchids, but they certainly do show up in my dreams, especially after a day like today. We will surely be visiting and combing the forest for stands of Cyp acaule....

No orchid dreams yet, but I hybridize some amazing daylilies in my sleep.

I had another very cool orchid dream last night. I was in a house I owned but hadn't been at for a while. I went down into the basement which was a maze of rooms and found many orchids growing without my help. They were growing in the dirt and dust on wood shelves, near dirty windows, mostly mounts, etc. They were not pretty to look at. I realized that I had a spray bottle with me and started to hydrate their roots. I could see some perk up with the attention. Then I found some that were blooming. I remember one stunning group of mounted maxillarias in different colors and forms. They were orchids I had collected years and years ago and never saw them bloom. I was beside myself with joy to actually see some that I thought I lost forever, blooming away. Some of the rooms were occupied by my grown daughter (her bed and stuff) and my dog was resting on a dog bed in another.
