I bought 4 roses from Euro Desert Roses when he was going out of business last year, this is one of them. I really love the deep crimson blooms.

That is an unusually rich dark red, no wonder you love it!

A smoldering deep red. Very pretty. Rogue Valley Roses - which acquired some of Eurodesert stock - now lists Lavaglut. It's been on my radar screen for over a decade but has somehow never made it into my garden despite its high ARS ratings.

I'm always searching for a good red rose. I'm happy with Lili Marlene - from Vintage Gardens. I just planted six Europeana. I completely failed with Lichterloh in this garden and Kardinal in my NJ garden. Francis Dubreuil has at least survived for one full year, though it is not quite so big as it was when I planted it a year back.

You should see NYRita's Lavaglut -- simply breathtaking! Does it smell good? Thinking about getting another red that smells good other than Oklahoma/Olympiad/MrL/Firefighter/Red Masterpiece etc etc etc
Roses are one of my passions! Just opened, my Etsy shop (to fund my rose hobby)! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Tweet...

I hope mine grows up to look like that.

I will have to smell it the next time I go out, I didn't check the fragrance.

Mary, thank you for posting that photo. I think Lavaglut is one of my roses that came without a nametag. Don't you love that dark dark crimson? It is beautiful both in bud and bloom.

I love that deep crimson color. I initially purchased the Austin rose, William Shakespeare, thinking it was this color, but it turned out that it had some blue in the bloom, and wasn't a true red. I finally found that true red in this one. I have it planted right next to Black Lady. Should be a nice red display when they both get blooming.

I have the Austin Rose Tradescant. It is becoming a favorite this year. I like the dark blooms too. Does the the one you posted smell good too?

Thanks, Toni. I was going to say I have this rose when I saw this thread. It is simply one of my very favorite roses. No scent but tons of blooms in big sprays that bloom and bloom and bloom. I just love the rich red black color. I had found mine locally one year and I am very glad I did.
