...I'm ready to cull post haste a couple of my orchids. The main one is 'Mabel Kanda'. I've had it 4 yrs. without bloom. It's going in the compost bin in a couple hrs. lest someone can offer any advice.
As are the Otaara 'Fragrance' and 'Chia Lin'. Too much to do without having to put up with the tedium of orchids which don't bloom. Angry

I would take them outside, get them used slowly now to more light and by July have them in really bright morning or late afternoon sun in your area. I know 'Mabel Kanda' needs absolutely full sun exposure here in NJ to bloom, ditto for the 'Chia Lin'.

Great advice Ursula! I have not grown either! But Ursula has great luck with them, Lee.

Thanks Ursula, I procrastinated 'til some common sense hit me. I did take then outside and put them in the shade of a shed. With yours and Boo's advice, I'll do as instructed. Lee
Will keep you informed if I may.

Boo, I've taken some pics of the orchids. Not good ones but in a little bit, I'll send them for yours and others critique. As a matter of fact, I'll try to get better ones before so.
Yes, we all, esp. me, could use an attitude adjustment. Lee

My turn to feel sad and ready to give up on my Grammatophylum Scriptum..haaay! Just a week or so ago, it seemed finally recovering, with a new growth, now that new growth has turned browed and mushy, even the new root it showed is doing the same...:-(

But, still hoping albeit not too much...have a question though, I know old pseudobulbs have eyes..how many do they typically have? So far the pseudobulb is still firm though a bit shrunk, but still green and firm..and the roots from what I see seems still viable..maybe it just hates semi-hydro method..or I just cannot provide the culture it needs...

If that were me, I would take it out of the SH, clean up the dead stuff and hope you have another viable eye. I don't know about Grammatophyllums - Jim would know that, he grows it. Cattleyas have 2 eyes....

Don't know about eyes. Do you have some info to link to?
Another thing I've had luck with is sprinkling cinnamon in the pot of some plants that tend to rot.

Ha ha. They can get pretty funny over there! I have seen those eyes many times when I peel off the (paisley) wrapping when on the hunt for scale.

I do use cinnamon too for those getting rotten..sometimes it works, sometimes not...oh well, i will wait and see....just sad, of the few orchids I had, I never got this one to bloom.

My Grammatophylum scriptum is in bloom and I just posted it on the June Orchids of the month thread. I added a little commentary there but if you have additional questions, just ask. The photo here is from last year.
