I think this is desmodium but not sure which one?

Maybe D. paniculatum?
I plan on taking more pics, let me know if you want me to post them.
Thanks for your help.

The extra photos could help Christine, I've already been through every species there is in TX, I wasn't very sure as there's so many. It would help to see the middle part of the flower as there's a pattern on the upper lip which looks different on some species.

Yeah, those pods stick to everything! hahaha! but, they are food for wildlife and several butterflies use the plants as a host.
and the flowers are pretty, Dave! Hilarious!

Here's a pic I have of the flower, maybe it will help you, Janet? If not I can take another later. I just went out this morning and all the flowers are closed.

Thank you for all of your help.

Can you get the little shapes above the throat Christine? Look at the one in the link where the greenish marks are, they seem to vary between species.

Maybe you can compare with Desmodium paniculatum on Discover Life Christine, there's a lot of photos showing all parts including the different leaf shapes.

http://www.discoverlife.org/mp...

There's a list of species .. (you will have to search again for Desmodium!)

I checked them out and still thinking it looks like D. paniculatum.
So, I checked some other places and found this site: http://www.sbs.utexas.edu/bio4...

and it looks just like my plant.
