Here's the backstory:
I foolishly tried to move my 3 lavender plants past the time I should have been moving them (I'm behind in *everything* these days). While moving them to the new place, I took about 100 cuttings to go along a new border. The plants died, but it looks like I'll have a lot of cuttings to complete my border Hurray!

My vision is to have the lavender plus something in between each plant for added texture/color but I just can't decide. Behind the border will be a red yarrow. I've actually thought about a short stonecrop for a pop of color.....

As you can see, I'm being pretty wishy washy!

Ideas? Smiling

I did a bad thing to my lavenders also and they never sprouted this spring.
I had combined my lavenders with Euphorbia Bonfire.
In this image 2011 june 26 The sedum Royal purple is also with Lavender at the right.Alas the Euphorbias were just planted so they dont show .
I would consider either Sedum Royal Purple or Euphorbia Bonfire. The yellow bloom gives it a pop.

How about Black Eyed Susan, seems pretty drought tolerant and just easy and bright colored. Green Grin!

Years ago a rudbeckia goldsturm seeded itself in my lavender bed and has since then mixed in with the lavender. They seem to get along very well, with similar watering and sun requirements.

My lavender has a trunk, so I was able to plant violas below, and when I repotted the lavender, I had to remove the violas. In lieu, I temporarily tried putting Sedum spathulifolium 'Carnea'. It was nice actually seeing that this sedum has yellow blooms coming from those burgundy edged rosettes. But I had to remove the sedums, I think it is too hot at that side of my garden and there were some violas popping up, must be from old seeds. It was crowding out the sedums.

The Lavender anouk with violas below it:

The classic pairing is roses and lavender, but that may be rather tough where you live , and I find roses barely worth the effort they take.

It sounds wonderful...but lantana can get really out of hand here. At the least, it would overgrow the lavender.

I'm really loving the yellow combination!

What a difference in growing conditions , lantana is not even a perennial here.
