Yes, we sure do. We have a pretty good cactus garden.
While we did fantasize about turning the entire farm into high country desert last year
, that isn't at all normal for us. We had over 70 days of over 100 degrees, and our normal is something like 5. We also went something like 4 months with zero rain, and we average once a week easily.
Even for lavenders- finding full sun is not a problem, but I do have to be aware to plant with extra drainage in mind. Building up the soil a bit. Same with other very drought plants- planting in more sandy areas, extra soil build-up or on a hill.
I actually lost some salvia greggis because their roots were too wet last year! The soil in that one patch didn't drain quickly enough.
Couldn't win for loosing!
