Calif_Sue said:Ok, after adding, the next pop up window says: "The plant has been added to your list. Please select from the options below:" but there are no options.

There should be two buttons on the bottom of that window: "Go to your plant list" or "Close".

Calif_Sue said:And will there eventually be an option from this same "Add this Plant to your list" button to just add it to our plant inventory right?

If I'm understanding y our question correctly... this is your plant inventory.

When you add a plant to your list, if you select "Have" under status, then it's in your plant inventory. Whether it is available for trade or not is the checkboxes below that.

So you can have plants in your inventory that are not available for trade.

OK, coffee kicking in, got it! Whistling

So as an inventory plant, will we eventually be able to create categories for them? Roses, iris, shrubs, etc?

Categories.... well, this is something that I'm in contemplation over. threegardeners above asked about having locations, like "where in the garden is it".

I personally want this, as I have gardens all over my farm and I want to track which garden contains which plants.

So, I am thinking we will have a generic "Categories" system where you can add categories. Then when you add a plant to your list, you can check off any of the categories that apply.

So you could create categories for "Roses", "Hibiscus", etc, but also categories called 'Front Garden' or 'Back herb spiral' or 'Behind the shop'.

You could even use the categories for a filing system for your seeds. That packet of seeds for cherokee purple tomatoes might be categorized as "Filing folder #41".

Does this sound like the right solution?

Yes, love having the option to customize it! I just went through my first 4 pages of images to add them to my inventory and the list is getting long, I better quit for a while until you get those options set up because right now it's a mix of plants.
Like the idea too where perhaps the add button changes to something that says this plant has already been added to your list.

This would definitely be useful, as it would be a big time-saver. Thumbs up

I do this for my work, using a Botanical Garden database system.
All plants have a location assigned to them, as well as condition at a certain date, blooming data etc. very useful.
I wish I could help more withthis Beta testing but I'm a bit swamped and couldn't give it my full attention. So - carry on! Hilarious!

1. When I click the "Add" button, I see "Done, but with errors on the page". I don't see the dialog some have refered to, "see your plant list". IE7

I get the same behavior from the Add button in "Viewing images posted by RickCorey".
"Done, but with errors on the page". And no dialog. Is there some way I can get debug info from IE7? Wiolling to experiment, and will try from home tonight. Our IT department at work has lots of security features.

2. I think #2 is not-a-problem since I sometimes use unusually HUGE text size, and also I have had some odd screen-size behavior when I switch browser text sizes in the past. "Text size medium" fits on my screen fine.

If I select "View | text size | Larger in my browser (IE7), the far-right column is partly off screen and I have to scroll right to see it all. But on my PC, "Larger Text" is pretty HUGE. "Medium Text" is a little small for my eyes.

My Windows "Apearance Font Size" is set to "extra large". 1280x1024 pixels.

3. Will there eventually be some high-level button for "see your plant list"? Maybe under Profile or Plant database?

Rick, whether this feature ever works with IE is very much up in the air. I have no Windows computers in this house so making it work with IE is extremely difficult for me, especially considering how bad of a browser that is. But I know a lot of people don't have a choice... It's something that stays in the back of my mind all the time.

2) Probably the same as #1 for me. I never experience that behavior in all the browsers I access the site with.

3) Yes, certainly. Once this is ready for prime-time, there will be a tab up top for it.

I understand. My boss would probably be THRILLED to hear I may not be able to browse seed trading lists ... time to download Firefox or whatever at home on the slow DSL!

(That hard drive is 83% full, time to look into an upgrade.)

For certain, though, you will have no trouble browsing through other lists using IE. It's the advanced features of creating a list that may not work perfectly in IE.

Dave,

I've been trying it out and adding plants. When I added a comment to one of the plants and clicked save, nothing appears.

Love the fact when I'm on the main database, the blue button (on the right side) says, add this plant to your list (or something like that) and sometimes I've been doing that.

When the drop down menu appears after 'have' is clicked, can there be something else....available for trade? or available for sale? What if someone doesn't want to do either after they click 'have'?

When the 'use to have' is clicked, what about having a 'want to have' option below that. Some plants I've owned and lost (or whatever), I'd like to have again.
Welcome to the Agastache and Salvias Forum!

Hummingbirds are beautiful flying jewels in the garden!

Marilyn, you asked "What if someone doesn't want to do either after they click 'have'?" You don't have to check anything if you just want to add it to your plant inventory list.

For instance: Say I have a batch of extra seedlings that will be available for a three week period only; it would be nice to be able to close that category with just one click. Or, is there a better way to set up a timed availability group of items?

You might have to refresh your list page to see the changes.

Marilyn said:When the drop down menu appears after 'have' is clicked, can there be something else....available for trade? or available for sale?

Yes, both of those are available.

What if someone doesn't want to do either after they click 'have'?

Then don't check either one off. Then it'll be a "Have" plant for you that is not available for trade (or sale). This is something I'm doing with most of my plants, actually, since most of the plants in my gardens aren't actually available for trading with anyone.

When the 'use to have' is clicked, what about having a 'want to have' option below that. Some plants I've owned and lost (or whatever), I'd like to have again.

In that case, you should select "Want" under the status.
