Can you loosely wrap some wire on the pole so the vine has something to hold onto. Wire with the black rubber coating should not be very noticeable.

I have seen green coated wire at Menards a home store, if you can't find black coated wire you could always paint the green coated black.

I go to the electrical dept at Lowe's or Home Depot they have all kinds of wire.Or an old black extension cord

What will be wrong with the green coated wire? Once your foliage has something to climb on, it's going to hide whatever color wire you get. Can you use regular hardware cloth(chicken wire)bend it to shape of light pole, hook it together with some silver thin wire and before you know it, that vine will be climbing up it.
