I have Asiatics that haven't bloomed yet ...but today AFRICAN QUEEN had her FFO for 2012!!
She normally blooms the last half of June into the first half of July for me here.

Thats BEAUTIFUL Claudia. I think 'brown back' reverse in African Queen is hard to come by now. I have a couple just like yours, but most of my African Queens are 'green back' reverse. Nice Photo Too!

Beautiful AQ. Blooming early too. I need to get a notebook out and decide which ones of mine need moved this fall. Have some ones that have gotten way too tall for where they are located.

This weird shaped thing is my first bloom and one of the very few I'll be getting this year because of all the heavy frosts.

Bearsearch: Your lily in your post here looks virused (splotchy, broken color):

If it were my garden I would remove it to the garbage (don't compost).

Mags, your Corianne is beautiful, such a lovely older lily. Isn't it wonderful that many of the older lilies are still available!

Shimmer looks like a delightful little one. We finally got a little rain here. My poor lilies and daylilies were needing it badly.

Thanks pard. It bloomed so early I just about missed it. It's a shorter lily too. It was bred by Fred Tarlton and named for his granddaughter. The story behind some of the names is nice too. It gives you a bit of a connection to the lily, the hybridizer and really makes it more memorable for me. Names have always intrigued me. I'd love it I ever had something I bred worthy of naming. One day, hopefully.

And yes, I love the older varieties. Some very special ones.

Thanks jmorth. I am never to skilled at getting those moving objects. That butterfly couldn't decide where it wanted to be to get pollen and might have been bothered by my photography, poor thing. I couldn't help myself though. I hardly ever have my camera in hand when I actually see them busy on the flower.
