This iris was sent to me as an extra in one of my iris orders in 2009. It was labeled 'Bella's Angel,' but it's not in the database and it's not on Google. I don't know where else to look for it. Can someone with access to a central registry please look it up and verify the name?

Hi Zuzu,

There isn't an iris in the registry under the name Bella's Angel. Are you sure of the name and date (the registry only has information for iris up through 2010)? It's not in the Iris Encyclopedia either. The Encyclopedia is, in many cases, more up to date than the registry and it is free for anyone to use: http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...

It also includes pictures of many (most?) varieties, especially the more recent introductions.

Thank you, Kent. Yes, I'm sure of the name they gave it, but it was an extra, as I said, and not something I ordered from their catalog, so maybe it was a new iris they decided not to register for some reason, or maybe they misspelled the name

Thanks very much for the link. Smiling

I don't remember which one it was, Paul. I placed a number of different orders in 2009 and I also got all of Evey's (BlissfulGarden's) extras. She had ordered irises that year from several nurseries and asked not to be sent any extras because she had to be very selective with her Louisiana climate. The companies sent them anyway and she sent them to me.

Zuzu, I really think it's ELLA'S ANGEL, by Pat Otterness.

http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...

I'm familiar with it because I think she's posted pictures of it in the TBIS Magazine, and right away I thought of it when I saw the colors and the name they had given you. The pictures I've seen of it look more like yours...

What do you think? The INTERSTELLAR GARDENS website might have pictures of it also, as that's where she posts hers.

Here it is from the Interstellar Gardens website. Maybe the standards aren't blue enough?

Oh, Betty. That's it! I think it looks just like mine. I bet I know what happened too: It probably was marked TB ella's angel without a space between the B and the ella, and I was just sappy enough to believe it was Bella's Angel. And Ella's Angel isn't in the database (I'll propose its addition right now), so that's why I couldn't find it when I searched through all of the irises with angel in their names.

Thank you so, so much!

Fantastic! And we even get a new iris in the database to boot!
