The Acer (maple) you refer to is Acer palmatum var. dissectum: 'Garnet' but most people call it Acer palmatum 'Garnet.' Although there is a difference between a dissectum and a straight palmatum. In that one has dissected leaves and one has palm of a human hand like leaves. i.e, Five lobes.
